Well I figured I’d give Value Village a run after accidently buying a new O’neil ski jacket. I had to redeem myself. I needed some shoes so figured I’d give that place a go. I found an awesome pair of Geronimo suede shoes for $14 and they are like new. I figured they’d be at least 70-80$ so I figured I saved about $50.

Pizza : : Supper
Well after school today I took the girls back to apt. to make pita pizza’s. I usually take them to Pizza Pizza (CHAIN) and get a large with four pops. Today I picked up a few items to make Pita Pizza’s and the total cost was 10.32 for a difference of $6.26.
Used :: XBOX and no Timmies.
Well staying true to my resolution this year I picked up something used today. I’ve been looking at one and someone offered me their XBOX 360 because they wanted a newer model with larger hard drive and HDMI. I don’t really care about those things, more ability to play a few games and stream media. So I got an XBOX 360 for $100 with two controllers. I’ve checked Future Shop and new they would be $199 (refurbished) with only one controller. So it would have been $224 with taxes so I just saved $124. Also still haven’t paid for a cup of Tim Hortons so I’ve saved aprox $27 so far give or take depending on Bagel and lunch orders, that total is based on 3 large coffee’s a day and nothing else. I usually get 2 or 3 cups and a bagel. If I get the bagel it’s usually 2 cups. I’ve also purchased no cappuccino’s yet and that is usually 2X week at a cost of aprox $8 week. So with the first week coming to a close I figure I’ve saved $35 on Coffee’s, Cappuccinos and bagels. So what does that equate to you ask? A skydive! Just paid for a jump!
Commute :: Cars’, Trains n Buses
Well my commute this morning was interesting. I was in Fort Erie which may very well become my new dwelling. I left with lunch in hand headed to the Go Train Station in Burlington for the 6:15 train. The roads were pretty slippery so I had to take it a bit easy. I did make it with 10 minutes to spair after picking up my ticket. I took the Go Train to Union and then jumped on the Subway which now costs 3$ a ride. I got to the bus at the end of the Subway line just before 8am making the entire commute aprox 3hrs. I have to admit it did go by pretty quick though. Good thing I don’t do that every day. All in all not a bad experience. I did have my handy dandy DD coffee mugs and a lunch after scorfing down my fresh toasted bagel. Not having purchased a coffee or bagel again today saves me 4.56 (aprox) for a total to date of 18.24.
The price of my commute this morning was 34.26 (aprox – gas, go train and subway). Had I simply driven it would have cost me 22.83 (Aprox) but I do have to take into account the wear and tear on the car, oil changes etc, and the fact that I was able to read to and from the office.
Coffee???
Well what a struggle this morning starting my new year off with no chains. As I’ve written I will not be getting anything from chains, nothing new etc (read previous blog entry). So this morning there was no coffee grinds to make a pot with and I still hadn’t found my Tim Hortons card I recieved as a Christmas Present so off I went back towards Hamilton to fix my server and didn’t have a coffee “en route”. I did get back to my unrecognizable apartment and rapidly threw on a pot of coffee. I also found my Tim Hortons card on the ledge when I got in with it’s $20 balance still intact. I’m going to be heading to the gym shortly for my first workout of 2010 and am quite excited about that. Well seeing as I have not purchased a Tim Hortons coffee since the new year (2 days) I figure I’ve saved 4.56 so far. This figure will continue to grow and you can follow it by navigating the savings Category. I’m now looking up beer brewing recipies and instructions so that I can make beer as I’m going to avoid the LCBO and the Beer Store this year.
