Workout :: Hip Pain

So tired of this hip pain. I’m sure it is a result of building up to fast after my injury. I went for my lunch workout and was really under pressure for time so didn’t take any breaks. Cardio was done with the workout by putting skipping and abs in place of breaks between sets. Did dumbell bench with skipping in between all four sets. Shoulder is still also recovering from the seperation in December so I can’t do heavy weight. Instead I did lighter weight and many reps. Dumbell fly was next with skipping and toe catches (abs). After the dumbell fly, incline press with planks and skipping. After the incline presses I did incline dumbell curls with elbow to knee crunches and skipping. Lastly was the roman chair with the hanging leg raises. Great workout and soaked at the end.

Workout :: tough week

I was going to start out saying it was a tough week but it’s been a tough 9 months. Starting back on December 23rd with the separation of the shoulder at Kissing Bridge, to the neck breaking on June 25th to this bloody divorce. When someone is trying to convince everyone you were a no good piece of S%$# who did nothing in the marriage, didn’t do anything with your kids, that you are agressive, and you intimidate it’s tough. I know everyone who knows me or knew us would dissagree if they trully knew us and saw us with the girls. Anyhow it’s been a rough patch and I really let it all just go and go and go on figuring at some point karma and common decency would eventually prevail and through the eyes of four beauties we’d find our way. No such luck.
Then take in the injuries, inability to workout and run and trying to keep on a brave face when you have no idea where your life is headed because you have no control over so many parts of it and it’s incredible I’m still smiling. Today I hit the gym. I headed to the gym with my change of heart. Remembering that I can only control my reaction and that I have to take what I have and work with it. What an awesome workout. What a great feeling when I was done. Rejuvinated and my outlook has changed greatly. Thanks to Jacques Demers and his talk yesterday at my work, perfect speeck at a great time. It’s time to get back to it, training, working out, reading, cooking and my passions, my girls and my work. Todays workout was mostly in the cardio room using the ball for my shoudler presses, plate with ball for tricepts, abs, skipping and curls. Then hanging leg raises and tricep machine. Feel awesome.

Running Log :: Brantford Rail Trail

Great day for a run. After a full day of rest doing nothing but chilling today was a run day. Anne is training for her first half and I’m going to be the pace bunny. I wasn’t a great pace bunny today as I decided at mile 4 to take off and pick up the pace I assured her I won’t do it when I’m the pace bunny. Anyhow the weather was perfect. Other than forgetting the garmin and carrying a huge waterbottle it was effortless. I really picked it up from mile 4 to 5 and then eased it up for the last to warm down and do some good stretching after.

Running Log :: nice and easy

Good run to keep the legs recovering, loosening up and getting ready for some serious training. See if my body can handle the gym tonight also. It is a greattest of patience and self control to keep the pace nice and easy and not just push it. That also applies to distance.

Running Log :: Short one after break

I’ve taken a bit of time off as I felt I was pushing to hard to fast. I let the legs rest a week as I was doing lots of Reno work at home anyhow. Today was just a 2 mile run with some great stretching after.

Hockey Girl :: WOOHOO

Well this was her first time out and I couldn’t have been prouder. I never figured hockey dad was in the card with me with all the girls enrolled in gymnastics. I really never was her thing but she went and hated the bodysuits. Didn’t like the hair done all “cutsie” and really just went through the motions. She always loved to go skating and didn’t care if she fell. Well she got suited up and had a blast in her new sport. I’m so excited for a hockey season.

Running Log :: Almost there

I’m not quite there for distance yet and endurance but after the type of injury sustained I can’t beat myself up. I got in a 10 mile run today and did do it going up the escarpment so it’s all good. I only called it quits at 10 miles to ensure I don’t end up with shin splints. I really don’t need another nagging injury to slow my recovery down. I also had gone to the gym for my first workout in quite some time just two days earlier so body was also hurting from that.
