Florida :: Day 3 — Disney Day

Disney Day!!! Oh the glory, the kids are sooooo excited as are the parents. It’s “Disney Day”… Davenport to Orlando is but a short drive and are they ever excited. Insane the price of Disney, for me and 4 girls it cost me $429 for the day. OUCH. By the end of the day I would have to admit it was worth it. We managed to get all the rides in and there was only one ride that one child couldn’t go on because of height but she made up for it in guts being the only little one going into the Haunted House. There was another Thunder Shower in the middle of the day that only lasted about 45 minutes and we got soaked. You’ll see in the pics when we are absolutely drenched as we forgot our rain ponchos. I also left my hat on Space Mountain. My new Ron Jon hat, ARRRRRR. Anyhow again I’ll let the photos tell the story. We stayed right till closing at 11pm and the kids got a few more Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain rides in at the last minute as the park was emptying out.

Florida :: Day 2

Today was a beach day, heading to Ron Jon Surf Shop in Cocoa Beach Florida. This is always one of my favorite places to go (Cocoa Beach). We got all the kids into the “Looser Cruizer” as Syd likes to call it. Was a great drive taking a little over an hour from Davenport. They call for thunder showers every day so you can’t let it get in the way of anything. We did our shopping after getting there and then had to go back in as we realized we forgot the bag with the swimsuits :( . We didn’t forget the snacks and packed lunches so that was good. There was a thundershower part way through the day that only lasted about 45 minutes and then it was great beach weather again. We spent the entire day on the beach playing in the water. There was one highlight “SHARK”!!! I thought I saw a fish and was certain it was a small shark about 3′ in front of me. When I looked over at the look on Sydney’s face who was standing beside me I realized real fast we both saw the same thing and did we ever get the hell out of there…

Running Log :: Florida

This was the most insane weather for a run. It was 90+ degrees with humidity making it feel like 104F. It was crazy. Next time I have to run with it’s dark. It was just to much. Glad to be running again and far to excited to do it every day.

Florida Day 1

What a good travel day. It was amazing how good all the kids traveled. We got flights from Direct Air leaving from Niagara Falls International Airport (Niagara Falls, NY) which arrive in Lakeland Florida. It is a discount airline so you have to try and get most into carry on which wasn’t difficult but didn’t hear that you have to pay for all drinks and snacks on the plane. It cost me $30 for “snacks” for the kids on the plane “ouch”. Once in Lakeland there was some accident with the rental company so we had to wait but our wait to get the van was as long as everyone standing in line with the local rental companies. Anyhow I’ll let the pictures tell the story of the Townhouse we rented at the “Regal Palms” in Davenport Florida.

Running Log :: run with Poulin

Went for a good walk run with Marc Poulin today. Left from my place and made our way to the Kenilworth Stairs and down the Rail trail with a good cool down walk home.

Running Log :: Love this title

I’ve been out of it for quite some time and running has been a NO NO… I tried once with brace on but that didn’t go very well and the pain following wasn’t pleasant so I stopped. After that I did a few short stings (1km real slow) with stairs. Those still proved quite painful following day. In the last couple days I’ve gone back running and it’s much better. Today’s run was great, neck felt good through the run and not so bad after. I did hill training running up and down the Chedoke Trail two times and the stairs twice.

Running Log :: Great progression

Recovery is coming along well. The pain the day after isn’t as bad as before. I am so excited to be feeling healthier and look forward to a race.

Recovery :: Second outing

I am not as stiff later on in the day as I thought I would be judging by how I felt when I woke up. The pain my body is in when my eyes first open in incredible. I refuse to take anything greater than an Extra Strength Tylenol so, enough said. Today by noon I was ready to go. It’s unfortunate that it’s so hot and humid out. The other difficulty is the not secumbing to the temptation of beer and more lazy days. Anyhow here is todays workout and I feel pretty proud of it. I know I will certainly pay for it pain wise in the short term but in the long term I’m sure I will be happy with the reward…

Recovery :: And so it starts

And so the recovery phase of this point in my life starts. After 6 weeks of taking it easy it’s time to get serious again and start to get this body back in shape. I’m really not sure how this is going to go and how long it’s going to take. How many times my fingers on the left hand will go numb from activity but it’s time to just see what I can do. Anyhow this was my first serious session back…
