Running Log :: 9 days off

I really needed a bit of time off from running. My body was aching all over. It seems that it’s been downhill since I separated my shoulder and haven’t really able to even workout. Beer consumption has been to high, eating crap and just coasting a bit. There have been so many stressors with tryign to get this divorce going and trying to get more time with the girls. Anyhow I really needed to run today. I took it really slow to make sure not to hurt things during the run and some good stretching after.

Concert :: Airborn Toxic n Drunk

Wow did I ever drink to much. Hope the videos certainly captured on security cameras of me on the Streetcar doing obscene things never make it to Youtube hahahahaha… What a night of drunken debauchery this turned out to be. Starting as usual at the Loose Moose where Anne managed to get us our usual pre-concert table by the window turned out good except for the smokers outside just below us. I had 3 or 4 quick pints there with the worst beer battered fish santwitch ever. Stale bread and over fried fish, UHHHHHH. Then Anne started having heartburn so we made our way to the Eaton Centre Shoppers Drug mart, me already very buzzed and stumbling. After that a streetcar ride to the club and a short wait inside. After that the Moosehead Tall Cans started flowing. YIKES, from here memory is fuzzy. There are some pics that will never see the light of day. The concert from what I remember was OK but really the sound wasn’t great and I don’t like the new album to be honest. Not as good what so ever as the first album. Anyhow that is my take on the concert weekend.

Running Log :: Tired legs

Wow my legs are tired after the run on Sunday. I was hoping to get at least 10km in today and that is what I did. Ran Locke Street to Westdale to Princess Point, downtown and back. Great run and happy to get the mileage in.

Weekend Kids Parties

Busy weekend with the girls even though it was cut short for Mothers day. I brought the girls home a day early to let them celebrate with mom which enabled me to have my long run on Sunday. Friday and Saturday were filled with Birthday parties, school friends party after school at Zoom Zooms and nieces on Saturday where they swam in a 58 degree pool. Won’t catch an adult in that pool that’s for certain. Kids had a great weekend.

Running Log :: Wow what a run

Went out for a long run with no plan and not sure where I was going to go. Certain that I wanted to do the Mount Albion hill again today which would take me up the mountain but the question was where to go from there. Once I hit the Leons on Stonechurch my mind was made up, all the way across Stonechurch to the other side of the mountain. There were a few times there on some of the hills I wanted to bail and turn down either Upper Ottawa, Upper Sherman, W5th but I persisted all the way to Upper Paradise knowing I was going to get to the Chedoke Trail. That trail run back down the mountain was tough on the legs, they were quite tired at this point but wow what a run. The finish line was the best, called it quits at The Westown for a Pint of Ricards Red and an awesome TurkeyClub.

Running Log :: Finaly a nice day

Well it’s about bloody time! Has spring arrived just in time for summer? I saw that sunshine and have been itching since I walked out of the house this morning to get out there for my run. We are not meant to live with such a consecutive number of cloudy and gold days in a row. This has been horrific. I got some headphones for the Ipod and hit the road. Todays goal was to just run all over and enjoy the view. I ran down alleys, up hills, past a high school beside some geese, Princess Point, Bayfront Park and Copps. Great day to be out there. Pace was pretty nice also considering I really wasn’t pushing it. My legs are going to need a nice recovery day tomorrow. Tomorrow will surely be a gym day.

Running Log :: shoes are done

This pair of running shoes didn’t last very long, only around 230miles (370km). That is the one thing I hate with Mizunos. I have to try and get to the States to get another pair as they are 60$ cheeper there. You figure 4-5 pairs a year and we are looking at about 250-300$ savings per year. Anyhow I did the Chedoke trail again today and my shins are on fire. The last couple runs I can really feel the lack of cushion in the shoes and my transition to barefoot is slower than I had hoped only due to a lack of time.

Running Log :: 6:14 minute mile in there

Heading out for my run my mood really wasn’t the best. I’ve been a bit down lately with missing the kids, still trying to get through the day to day life of being a single guy at 40. The weather has been less than perfect and it all takes it’s toll. I miss the sunshine most almost as much as I miss my girls. Compromising with an ex wife isn’t always easy and often leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Anyhow the weather is still crap out, or at least it was when I headed out but I tried to make the best of it. Did it ever work. I feel awesome, the sun was out by the end even if for a few minutes it was shining on my face. On the way up the Chedoke Trail I came across 4-5 deer on the left bank eating grass and gave up on avoiding the puddles and ran through them with determination. This was a great run and the reward, a great mood. These are the moments you have to soak up and realize it all has a way of working itself out.
