Running Log :: TIRED

Couldn’t sleep in this morning. Did go to bed early and had hoped for some much needed extra sleep but no such luck. I was lying in bed awake before 5am trying to figure out what to do. Not able to fall back asleep listening to the news on CBC I got my butt out of bed and to the gym for 6am. I jumped on the treadmill aiming for my 9 mile training run. I did manage to get it in but it was far from easy. The lack of sleeps and beer surely are affecting my running but what ever can I do about it, it’s St. Patty’s day you know! Did my 9 mile run in 1:15:40 for average pace of 8:24.

Running Log :: 3 miles :(

Supposed to run 4 miles today but with the lack of sleep last night my legs were just screaming at me. I need some serious sleep tonight to get my body to recover. I felt it would be smarter to lay up at 3 miles than try and push one more out and take a chance at injuring myself so close to the Bay race. Anyhow I did the 3 miles in 25 minutes for an average pace of 8:20 minute miles. No risk taking right now, just mileage building.

Running Log :: first outside in some time

Well the Around the Bay is around the corner. I was supposed to run 12 miles but had to bail early as I forgot I had massage apt at my physio clinic. It was a good run none the less having run over so many different surfaces trying to avoid wipping out or getting soaked. There are some good pics also. Here is the info.

Running Log :: 7.5 Great week

This has been a great week of running so far, exceding my required mileage so far. Today was a 7.5 mile run in one hour. Average pace is 8 minute miles. That is such an easy pace. I remember five or so years ago when I was happy to run entire run at 8 minute miles. Sometimes being fortunate to just dip below that but mostly running comfortable at 8:30-8:45. Oh how times have changed. Around The Bay here I come. My first Bay race…

Running Log :: 6 miles pushing it

I did a six mile run in 46:58 but that was only because I mostly walked the last mile. I was maintaining a 6:57 minute mile for the majority of the run. Really beat myself up doing it as I haven’t let my legs loose like that in quite some time. I loved running that fast even though it was on the treadmill. WAS AWESOME!!!

Running Log :: 4 miles

Today was a 4 mile run and thought legs would be more wobbly than they were. Great run to loosen them up and excellent stretching afterwards.

Reno’s :: Dining Room

Like 16 miles wasn’t enough but had to finish the dining room. Wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. The only think I don’t like was that I didn’t patch the ceiling. I really wasn’t in the mood to throw a lair of drywall compound on that and sand the entire thing as the mess would be horrific. I’ll save that for a future project. Unless you know you are looking for it you won’t see it with the fresh coat of white I put up there. The two colors turned out great, sticking to an earth theme between the living and dining rooms.

Running Log :: SNOW = Treadmill

I’m am very tired of this snow. Had a great day yesterday and couldn’t take advantage of it and instead get up this morning and fresh wet snow all over the ground. Drove to waterfront trial hoping it might have already been cleared but no such luck. Then I got to the gym only to realize I forgot my gym bag so had to go back home, get the bag and get back to the gym. Anyhow I kept the temp nice and steady for the run. I worked it up to 8 minute miles for quite a bit of the run without much effort. It was surprisingly a very easy 16 mile run. I did the 16 miles in 2:10:46 for an average pace of 8:10 minute miles. Try and get an nice 18 mile run in next weekand and then a reduced week before the Around the Bay.

Wine :: Cab Sauv

First attempt at wine making. I was expecting much more to it but it turned out to be a 15 minute trip to BrewTime only to realize there is nothing to it. Mix the juice, water, grape skins, cedar chips and voila!!! Wow not impressed. Because we are going to be aging it extra time in the Oak Barrel we’re looking at twelve weeks. You read that right, three months!!!

Honey Brown

This attempt at Honey Brown almost went bad when I almost put in double amounts of a few ingredients including the Honey. I almost put in a litre of Honey to a 6 gallon batch of beer, Yikes! Anyhow I did get all the measurements right and now it’s just a waiting game. As for the last batch of Smithwicks (Irish Red) it’s bitter of the first two days so far in the keg but I had the same issues last time. I’ll have to see how it progresses through the week and see if this is something normal for brewing at home. Last batch started out the exact same way, very cloudy and “off” tasting.
