Is it beer or are they beers? Do we pluralize beer when we drink three glasses of beer? I was advised that the first problem was indeed the fact that I had only consumed three beer. Now this was pointed out by a Maritimer, so take all of it with a grain of salt. Anyhow the rule as I read it is as follows :
“Beer” is a mass noun, and therefore can not be usually be pluralised – like sheep and water. You can’t say sheeps. When the beer is in individual glasses or bottles you can say beers, this being the accepted plural for glasses or bottles of beer. When refering to different types of beer you can also say I like strong beers.
