Workout :: Not 100%

I haven’t been feeling 100% all week and left work early and tried to get a workout in hoping it would give me a boost. I have been battling a cold all week and commuting to Toronto didn’t help. At the gym did shoulders, abs, back and arms. Exercises included deline crunches, planks, hanging leg raises and elbow to knee crunches, wide grip chins, kneeling lateral cable raises, shoulder presses, dumbell curls, dumbell preacher curls, french press and dips.

Running Log :: Up Yonge

Did my run up Yonge street today and it was a bit cold or so everyone thought. Once I got going I was very toasty. I did a 5 miler out and back from Young and Drewry to the 401 and back. Not bad time at all, second under 40 minutes. I was pleased with the run considering I did a leg workout in the morning. I brought my camera figuring that I would see an accident and sure enough, as soon as I got to Yonge Street, there it was, three car pileup, hahaha.

Workout :: day two

Second day in Toronto and wanted to get a morning workout in so that I could run outside at lunch! It would be impossible to run late and be safe with how fast it’s getting dark. Today was a leg and chest workout day. Did leg press, leg curl, leg extensions and calf raises. Chest workout was dumbbell bench, incline bench and cross cables. Great intense fast workout!

Mom’s Birthday

Was very tired and working in Toronto but made the drive to Fort Erie to celebrate my mothers birthday. We ended up going for Chinese food and it was good but very greasy. The “Lemon Chicken” was battered and fried and very fatty. Oh well I ate lots so can’t complain. Got a few good pics.

Skating in Dundas

I love the outdoor rink in Dundas Ontario. Today I got word that it wasn’t very busy this morning so raced down there with the girls to let them have a go for our first outing with the new skates. I was very impressed at how good the twins were out there. We had a blast, one thing I have to say is thank goodness for the helmets. I don’t know how we survived our youth, as they banged their heads more times than I can count. Not hard but there would have been a few good eggs.

Workout :: Heavy, Heavy

Decided to try and get a workout and run in but ended up pushing it really hard so no running. Went for heavy lifting which seems to be the theme of late. Started with shoulder presses and before I knew it had 55lbs dumbbells in each arm and was pushing through some good reps. Did the kneeling lateral cable raises and put that up to 30lbs. My entire workout was super sets of  one type with opposite type. Did chest (barbell bench, incline barbell bench), back (wide grip chins, t-bar rows), shoulders (dumbbell shoulder press, kneeling lateral raises), arms (dumbbell curls, dumbbell preacher curls, french presses, dips) and abs (incline crunches with 25lbs plate, rope crunches, hanging leg raises). I’m sure I’m going to hurt tomorrow after this.

Running Log :: First winter run

Out for my first winter run of the season (well guess the Santa Race was my first winter run) but this is my first good training run on a snow base for much of the run. I miss these runs. The sun was out and saw kids sledding in Gage Park and all those things help to highten an already good mood. Anyhow did the run in 35:12 for an average pace of 8:14 minute miles.

Workout :: best lifting

Decided to try and go a bit heavier today. I usually stick around the 65 lbs mark for dumbell bench press but today was curious what I might be able to do reps of. I grabbed the 85lbs dumbells and was surprised that I could not only do it but did 3 sets. It’s a bit tricky to load up and without a spot I didn’t want to get greedy. I would like to have seen if I could have gotten that up to 90 or even 95lbs. I’ll have to wait till someone is around that might give me a hand. I also did 65lbs incline dumbell bench presses after for theree more sets. Todays workout was arms, abs and chest. Exercises today were dumbell bench (indline and flat), cross cables, cable curls, preacher dumbell curls, wide grip chins, dips , decline crunches with 25lbs plate, planks, hanging leg raises and reverse cable (tricep). Was a great heavy workout, increasing the weight for every single exercise. I’ll do my run tonight outside.
