Workout n Cardio

Got up early to make my way to Toronto, it’s Monday you know. Figured as usual get my workout and cardio in before the day starts. It’s very frustrating though that this hamstring tendon is not healing faster, guess I should rest it more. Anyhow had great shoulder, chest and ab workout today and finished it up with 30 minutes eliptical as I partied a bit much on the weekend. Anyhow great workout.

Concert :: Ozzy

Well it’s best to put this concert into context. Last night I went to see Barenaked Ladies and tonight Ozzy. I thought nothing better than the two ends of the spectrum as far as my youth goes. For a spell I had a step brother that was into Sabath and there were some Ozzy songs I like and I hung around with just about everyone so a vast music genres was always at my disposal. I put all that into good use this weekend going to see BNL and Ozzy. Could the 40-50+ crowd be more different. It was just like my youth and watching those people grow up into the upstanding citizens was quite pleasant. I have to say as far as sheer fun and entertainment and “Party” value Ozzy wins. As far as culture and relaxing night of social and musical entertainment BNL wins. Would I have asked for any better of a weekend ABSOLUTLY NOT “ROCK ON GARTH!”

Concert :: Barenaked Ladies

Well I was reading a review this morning to see what “critics” might thing and also to get the set list. I think the “critic” was somewhat right but quite far off about the sound… I though they did an amazing job on “Old Apartment” and “If I Had a Million Dollars” but I was really excited to see them and probably didn’t take that … Setp back. Anyhow amazing show and glad I got to be a part of Barenaked Ladies playing Massey Hall. Now on the hall, amazing place, great photos and beautiful history. I was one of the sad people using his IPhone to read wiki’s about the hall etc. in between songs and absorbing the atmosphere. Great night. To read the review just click here. My only disappointment was the lack of What a good boy, but c’est la vie.

Workout :: Elliptical

Today shoulders and very little abs. Today was a semi recovery day hammering away at the shoulders. I got to the gym late so stuck to shoulders and one ab exercise. Shoulders consisted of cable front raises, cable rear deltoid, corkscrew with plate and hanging leg raises for the abs. The corkscrew also worked the abs. There is an example of the corkscrew here. After the workout headed over to the elliptical for another 30 min at level 6 keeping the RPM into the 90′s. 3.71 miles and 528 Calories. My legs were very drained from yesterdays workout.

Workout :: PUSH HARD

I absolutly love how I feel after I’ve really pushed myself. Further than I had planned to go and sustain it. With all the problems I’m having recovering from the last marathon I figured I really need to start getting leg workouts back in there. I used my IFitness app and grabbed a few leg excercise ideas and worked out my legs without overdoing it but pushing myself right to that limit. Kept supersets in there with arms and side to side plates. After the workout I hit the elliptical again and set the level up to 6 an, 30 minutes and kept the rpm in the 90′s hitting 100+ a few times. I was just dripping. The difference in intensity between yesterday and today is visible in the statistics, today 3.88 miles, 558 Calories compared to yesterdays (437 Cal and 3.6 miles). I just loved it. The workout before elliptical consisted of Barbell Squats with superset of dumbell curls, good mornings with superset of overhead tricepts with rope, side to sides (with plate) with superset of seated calf raises and wide grip chins with supreset of dips.

Toronto :: Workout n Cardio

Working in Toronto and wanting to avoid the traffic I made my way to the office for 6:55 am. Headed straight to the workout room and was very tired. It was a long weekend with the girls and I am completely spent, but have to get the workout it. I figured I’d have a hard workout and good cardio session in to try and keep the tempo up while this hamstring heals. I concentrated on shoulders, chest and abs but also ended up doing a bit of arms. Again everything was supersetted with an abs exercise. I found an Ab Wheel at Winners so picked one up as they have one at the gym at the school and it really works the abs. I started with the ab wheel and shoulder presses. Exercises today were, Ab wheel, shoulder press, cable lateral raises, toe catches, decline crunches with 10lbs, bench press, cross cables, hanging leg raises, dumbell curls, reverse one arm cable and preacher curls. Was a great workout and after did 30 minutes elliptical for 3.6 miles and 450 calories.

Weekend with family and sewing

Spent the weekend with the girls and it started early this week, on Wednesday! We had a great time filled with activities and a family get together for Christmas. I think the highlight for my 8 year old was definitely sewing a blanket. I got her a used sewing machine for her birthday and she absolutely loved it and the twin’s friend’s mommy showed her how to sew. It was a great time. We started the Saturday at Anne’s house and the kids played all day, finishing with pizza and wings and then off to Brigitte’s house for lessons. Sunday we made our way to Timmies for some cheese bagels and then to Welland for a stroll down memory lane and the family get together. The only sad spot was my oldest not being there but that is a long story and this isn’t the forum. Anyhow it was great seeing everyone and the extra day with the girls was also awesome.

Running Log :: great day for a run

Well I’m still really suffering from this hamstring tendon issue but I just can’t take not running. I figured I’d just take the pace down. I’m icing it as I write this as it’s quite painful. The scenery on the run really takes care of the pain though, getting so lost in my surrounding that you feel nothing. I haven’t had the opportunity due to this pain to run since the weekend and really needed some alone time to enjoy and savor the experience! With that said it was a bit chilly running in my shorts and only one technical long sleeve.  It’s only 4 degrees and with the breeze, Brrrrr. Took some good pics with the IPHONE along the way, good excuse to take a break here and there. The pace was still good even with the breaks! There are a couple extra pics of the girls this morning before school!
