Anyone who knows me knows I have always loved my meats and was never really picky. A $2.99 sub from the cheap place, street meat be it in Toronto or Acapulto. I wasn’t picky. The one thing I have noticed is that I always felt bloated and then again some form of meat product was usualy a staple of every meal I consumed. It has been a little over a week since I’ve ingested any form of meat product and I can say I’m starting to notice a difference. I’ve focused on some new recipies and also eating what I always ate but keeping out the meat portion. I went to Kelsey’s on Monday (Thanksgiving) after the girls went home and had a veggieburger with ceasar salad and have to say I was very impressed with the burger, I need to figure out that recipie. Anyhow it’s been a great experience and I’m noticing the differences all around and expecially the bloated feeling. The next thing I need to cut back on is the caffeen intake… One thing at a time!

No Meat — Me?
Workout :: Vertigo
Well the vertigo is really bad today and I’m sure it’s due in part to the day spent at the waterpark yesterday. It hasn’t been this bad in over a week and it really makes a mess of the workout pace. I did get a workout it but didn’t get to do it as intensly as I usually prefer. Regardless today I did arms, abs and chest. Also worked on the barefoot running today running for a little over a mile (10 minutes).
Niagara Indoor Waterpark
Thanksgiving the unconventional way, it’s all about spending time with family. Headed down to the indoor waterpark in Niagara Falls beside the casino. It was a great day and we were there for 6 hrs and to say I am exhausted is an understatement. We had a great day and it was a fitting end to a long weekend. I’m glad I got to spend it with the girls. Next weekend is moving time.
Dad’s Thanksgiving Weekend
Another beautiful day out and you know these days are numbered. Headed over to dad’s for the day with the girls and Anne so they can play outside. We had a blast playing both outside and inside. The girls got to go out in the boat, ride bike, fish, barbie jeep and even catch some crayfish and minows from the nexts in the creak. Also had some good pingpong games.
Hike with all kids :: Sherman Falls
After a run in the morning and playing at the park we decided to head to Websters falls. As soon as we got there we realized that wasn’t going to happen, it was crazy busy so we turned around and decided to try and find some other falls. We made our way over to Sherman Falls. This turned out to be a great nature hike and the kids loved it. We build a damn/bridge to cross over instead of having to walk around as the bridge is being rebuilt. The kids did some climbing, some hiking, caught some salamanders (Eastern Redback Salamander — Plethodon cinereus). We also hiked along a portion of the Bruce Trail.
Running Log :: AAA
Took the kids to practice running for the 1km road to hope race they are going to run and also for me to get some recovery running in and get my training going for Disney Marathon. IT Band still very tight. Had a good run, nice pace but legs are still quite tired. Did 5.07 miles in 37:36
Workout :: No cardio
I had hoped to get a cardio session in with my workout today but after yesterdays legs workout and my run there just was nothing left in my legs, they need a break. I should be back up to regular running next week and be on schedule for Disney. I’m pretty comfortable with the way things are progressing. Workout today was arms, chest and abs. Workout consisted of dumbell bench press and cross cables. Arms were cable curls and overhead tricept extensions with rope. Abs were decline crunchs with weight and hanging leg raises. Also had some wide grip chins in there. All in all a very good hard workout. I have the girls now till Monday so that is it for the week and there is nothing to complain about there, 4 workouts for the first week back.
Running Log :: Workout
Down to the gym I go and plan on leg workout and seeing if I can run yet. Did legs, abs and lower back today. Legs consisted of hamstring curls, squats and calf raises. Abs were decline crunches, I didn’t want to do much as I did hard abs yesterday and day before. I also did overhead presses and back extensions.
After the workout I hopped on the tredmill and did a 3 mile run in 28:04, nice and slow to work the legs back in and also to give me warmed up legs for stretching.
Workout :: Barefoot running
Today I hit the mountain gym during my lunch for a hard workout, cardio session and try a bit of running. I did shoulders (shoulder press and later raises), arms (21′s and dips), back (reverse bent over row), abs (toe catches, planks on ball and hanging leg raises) with supersets of skipping thrown in there. I did 30 minute elliptical session after the workout followed by a run. I decided to try some barefoot running for 5 minutes just to loosen up the legs and start my buildup of barefoot running. I absolutly loved it and the freedome, the natural style is amazing, very light on the feet.
Disney Marathon 2011

It’s official, I’ve just registered for the 2011 Walt Disney Marathon. This will be my 4th time running this race and hopefully my Boston qualifier. I didn’t want to take a chance trying to run Nov 7th and it not working and being injured to the point where I can’t train for this one and run out of time to qualify before 40. So this will be it! Heading down on a Wed after work and back on the Monday flying out of Buffalo.
