Great Wolf Lodge

Anne and I took the kids to Great Wolf Lodge this weekend. Two adults and six kids for 2 nights and 2.5 days living the Great Wolf experience. We opted out of the Great Wolf dining experience figuring it would have cost us $100 per meal (yes breakfast also). The place isn’t cheep people. Anyhow it was an awesome weekend and both the kids and adults loved it. We also managed to go to Zappi’s for a pizza and beer break. With that said here are some of the pics.

Running Log :: Taper Forest

Well it never ceases to amaze me the number of fat ass white trash people that find it funny to yell at a runner from their cars “run Forest run” when in fact the person in the car would probably test lower than Forest himself. The best is the fact that they are usually either eathing a box of Smarties or scorfing down some McDonalds product with their Diet Coke in their saussage pants and Kitty Print T-shirt. Anyhow my run this evening started out very bad as I had just “scorfed” down two lean burgers with mashed potatoes and corn about 1.5 hours before the run. I really needed some nutrients but it was to soon. I managed to still pull off an average 7:30 mile so I really shouldn’t be complaining. Took a bit of a different route this evening.

Running Log :: tired

Well legs are pretty tired and I have no idea what that pain in the right foot was but it seemed to have subsided today. My legs were like cement tough. Anyhow I went out going for anything between 6 and 8 miles. It’s crazy busy at work so couldn’t take an extra min or two today to because of it so just did the run. Anyhow not bad all things considered.

Workout :: Finally back

Well I finaly got my butt back into the gym after many weeks. With all the mileage last month it’s just hard to do both. It felt great to be back in there. Took it easy for first session back. Did some chest (dumbell bench), arms (dumbell curls, one arm reverse cable pressdown, preacher curls), shoulders (ISO bench) and abs (toe catches, hanging leg raises.). Dizzy spells were back again and I took advil today.

Running Log :: Taper Time

Well it’s taper time. Went for my short run with Anne. Just before the run ran (no pun intended) to the Running Room (say that 3 times fast) to pick up a new pair of Mazunos as mine are already starting to wear out. 275 miles on the pair I’ve been running in and they are already beat up. I can feel it in the shins and just don’t want to take a chance getting shin splints with only 3 weeks to go before marathon plus I need to break these ones in. Anne’s run was a 4.5 miler and mine called for 4 miles so the last half mile of this run was Anne. Took a slow recovery pace today as my right foot is quite tender on the outside back portion of the right foot. Anyhow it was an ok run but the heat was back and the air quality was poor. Tomorrow supposed to be a better day. After the run we had some BBQ port tenderloin, saussage, rice and red wine. Oh can’t forget the couple beers…

Running Log :: 20 miler and personal best

I have never run like this before. Thanks to Anne for being my pacer with the bike and carrying the supplies (Water, Gatoraid and Goo packs). This is a personal best for the 20 miles and also would have been a personal best for the half marathon had I not dropped my gel pack hahahahah and no it wasn’t your fault Anne… Anyhow I’m very excited because the first 10 miles are a 550′ climb and yes that does mean I get to run down hill for that also but you burn lots of energy doing that climb. The other problem was on the way out I was running into the wind and when I had turned around and come out of the trees guess what, wind had died down. Though I would have had a nice wind to push me but no such luck. Anyhow I loved this run and it was the confidence I needed to try and qualify for the Boston Marathon.

Running Log :: heat and poor air

This weather is just insane, humid, poor air quality, heat and the hills. I just couldn’t get through the 10 miles and stay healthy. I’m very tired of this weather, I think I rather train for the marathon at Disney in the winter than this marathon through the summer. I have had enough of the heat. It’s supposed to break this weekend for my last 20 mile run before the Marathon.
