The night before my run started out horribly. My oldest daughter decided she wasn’t going to come and support me and nobody decided it was important enought to explain to a 12 year old that this is a very important event and that just hanging out with friends could be done any other time. Instead I got a text asking if I could come another time, only to later learn that I was lied to. I woke up at 2:45 am the day of the marathon and never fell back asleep. On to a brighter note, my middle daughter was eager to come cheer dad on and we were ready. Paul, Anne, my daughter and I piled into the car and started to make our way to Toronto. We managed to find a good parking spot and get to the starting area (which was moved this year). I had a great run achieving a new personal best and missing the cut by a meer 7 minutes. I’m hoping that I will be recovered enough by this weekend to get back out there training and see if I can do the Road 2 Hope to qualify. I’m to close to give up now, if not it will have to be Disney.

Running Log :: Great 3 miler
Went out for one of the last runs before the race. Was going to run it slow but ended up picking it up, just couldn’t help myself. Figured I should really push the breathing. It was only 3 miles so what kind of damage could I do to my legs in 3 miles eh? Well felt awesome. Did my three miles in 21:16 (actual moving pace–few lights).
Marathon :: Scotiabank – 3days, 22hrs remain
To say I’m very excited would be an understatement at this point. To have come back from an ankle fracture in February to being ready for this race has been a great challenge and I feel accomplished regardless of Sundays outcome. What I am loving at this point is the weather forecast. They are predicting clear skies and cool temperatures. I’ll try and get a nice 3 miler in today, nice and slow to simply keep the legs loose.
Wine :: Black Cab
My neighbors stopped by last night. I was laying down beginning to fade when I heard a rat tat tat on my door and low and behold I answer it and it’s Brian asking if I’d like to sit out with some wine. They had taken the bike down to Niagara On The Lake for a little wine tour and picked up some bottles. The brought over a Black Cab from East Dell winery in Beamsville. What a great wine. Very dark red with a light aroma. I absolutly loved this wine. We ended up drinking two bottles of it before I crashed for the night.
Workout :: been some time
Well the other problem I’ve been having (Vertigo) isn’t as bad as it was but it’s still there and I had it again during my workout. I decided this time to just go slow and workout through it. I had a pretty good workout, focusing on my core as the race is this weekend and I’ve been neglecting the abs the last few weeks. I like to have rock hard abs for a race so it’s important this week I really isolate them. I did abs, chest, arms and some back today. Was a great workout.
Ensomnia :: 3 something
Well I’m not sure what time I’ve been awake since this morning but I’m exhausted. When I went and looked it was 3:45 am but I had alreaddy been laing there for quite some time. Had to get to Toronto today and I hate driving tired. At least I managed to get there for a workout. It’s hard to belive at 5:55 am there was a lineup at the Timmies drive-thru and that there was traffic on the QEW.
Running Log :: Great 8 miler
Well this was last Sunday run and after the sore hamstring during the week I was very happy that everything felt good. There were lots of people out there today for the Terry Fox run/walk/bike and the weather was perfect for it. Anyhow I did my 8 mile run well under the Boston qualification pace and that also made me very happy. Anyhow There are only two more runs during the week this week and then race day.
Running Log :: Sore left hamstring
Left hamstring is killing me. Was tight after first mile or running. Might have to take an extra day off tomorrow. Don’t need to get injured now that’s for certain.
Running Log :: FAST FAST FAST
Well out for my 4 miler and it was up the Chedoke Trail. I remember when I was happy with 7:30′s and today average was 7:16 and there was a bit of waisted time. Average moving pace was 7:12. Getting very excited to run Scotiabank.
Workout :: Vertigo again
This vertigo is getting rediculous. I’ve been reading and they actaully say extended dentist visit could cause it so that would take care of it on Friday. Also ear troubles (which I have always been prone to) and the fact that I spend the weekend in the pool. Well I’ve made a Dr. apt to get this looked after but after the vertigo during my workout I think I might hit the clinic tonight.
