Running Log :: HOT!!!!!!!

Ok this was insane hot out there.  The last mile I thought I was going to pass out. Don’t know what I was thinking. I even pushed through the last mile very slowly. I’m glad I got my run done but that was just to much. I can tell you, if this was the weather of a marathon I would truly quit in the middle of it unless they had hoses out there. Anyhow I got it done and I’m glad. Look at that humidex reading, feels like 38! Oh next time I’ll just have to wait till the middle of the night. Tomorrow is a 10 miler and they are again forecasting hot weather.

Running Log :: Far to tired

I was exhausted before it even started. Was out late again last night with neighbors and a few beers, wine and some other summer drinks. Anyhow I got out a bit later than I had wanted and it sure got hot fast. I did my 12 miles along the lake between the Skyway and the Waterfront trail. Next week is going to be another 40 mile week so will need to make sure I’m getting lots of rest.

Ride out to Wainfleet for Ribs

Neighbor was looking for some ribs and someone he knows was bbq’in ribs so we went for a ride out to Wainfleet to pick some up. It was a great ride, just convinces me more and more that I’m in need of a bike next year.

Running Log :: Warming up

Well it is getting warm out there again, this after a nice couple cool days that I actually took off.  I rested up the last two days so today was a nice and easy run to warm the legs back up. It was me that warmed back up, very warm out there. Anyhow great 6 miler at an easy 8:07 minute mile pace. Looking forward to the marathon.

Rock of Ages (Toronto)

Went to see Rock of Ages in Toronto last night and have to say it is probably my favorite play to day. What a musical. If you are into the 80′s and early 90′s rock bands this is for you. You can surely catch the jist of the era with this production, the hints of Van Halen/Van Haggar, the funny side of the “boy band” sellout. The mix of humor, singing and comedy is a perfect blend. I really need to see it again. It takes place in a club on the Sunset Strip and it’s great because the band that is playing the entire show is on the stage in the “club” so you see them the entire show.
Here is a list of the songs that are covered in the production.

  • Just Like Paradise / Nothin’ but a Good Time
  • Sister Christian
  • We Built this city / To much time on my hands
  • I wanna Rock
  • We’re not gonna take it
  • Heaven / More than Words / To be with you
  • Waiting for a girl like you
  • Wanted dead or alive
  • I want to know what love is
  • Cum on feel the noise / We’re not going to take it
  • Harden my heart / shadows of the night
  • Here I go again
  • The final Countdown
  • any way you want it / wanna rock
  • High Enough
  • I hate myself for loving you / Heat of the Moment
  • Hit me with your best shot
  • Can’t fight this feeling
  • Every Rose has it thorn
  • Oh Sherrie
  • The search is over
  • Don’t stop believin’

Running Log :: What a great run

Well I really wasn’t sure what I was in for. Legs were pretty tired after the 20 miler on Sunday. Lacing up the shoes I was worried about the right foot. It had been a bit tender after the run on Sunday and the downhill portion near the Chedoke Gold club. I had to lace it up a couple time to ensure a good fit and avoiding pressure on the sensitive area. The first 2-3 minutes were really questionable, the uncertainty as things were slowly loosening up as to whether there was going to be lasting effects from the previous run. To my amazement after mile one it was giddy up and go time. I let the legs loose, leaning into it and really working the forefoot. Great run, good time and I’m very happy with this as a recovery run.

Running Log :: Thanks Paul

Out for the long run this morning and it was great for my bud Paul to come along on the bike and carry the water and gatoraid for me. I started out nice and strong and even got greedy and decided to take half of the Chedoke Trail. It was a great run. I slowed it up once I passed the half to make sure to preserve the legs, I do have another 20 miler in two weeks. So this is the first time I’m going to do two 20 milers in in my training cycle and then it’s taper time. I’m so looking forward to the taper. I’m sitting here now and my left arch is just burning and my calves and ankles are just exhausted. Can’t wait to see what I feel like tomorrow.

The Bills with dad

Well went with my dad to the Buffalo Bills Toronto Series. What a great time. We hit the Loose Moose first and it was loud.  I think a bit of culture shock the “the old guy”. Anyhow good supper after the Go Train ride in. The game was a really good game and it’s quite different live. As you can see in the pics 10.25 for a beer is insane and they wonder why they were 14,000 under capacity. $155 a ticket for the less expensive seats and $10.25 a beer it’s insane. We managed to move to a different section with a better view as we coudn’t see the replay screen from our seats. It was a great game. On the way back we missed our Go Train by minutes and had to wait till almost midnight for the “all stops” train back to Burlington getting in at around 1am and then the poor “old guy” had to drive home. He’s better than me, I couldn’t have done it. Way to tired.

Running Log :: Hot again

Well went out for my 5 miler and as soon as I walked outside under the cloudless sky and felt the sun hit me I knew it was going to be another hot run. I’m so tired of these hot runs, I really enjoyed the cool run yesterday. The very cool run on the weekend. Anyhow I got it done and that is what’s important. This is always the most difficult running time because it’s a matter of just logging the mileage and waiting for the taper. I know I can do it now so let’s get it done!

Running Log :: 10 miler what a hill

Well went out for my 10 miler at lunch today. I figured I’d just stay late at work so that I can get it in now as it’s cool out and looks like it might rain later. Anyhow I headed out and had already figured out aprox. where I’d be running. I decided to take Beddoe Drive up to the Chedoke Golf Course parking lot. What a hill, this reminded me of the Worcester Half Marathon. Insane hill! I’m glad I did it and had a great run overall.
