Well I moved my Sunday run to Monday to try and get a bit more recovery in. It really didn’t seem to help much. I even ran at a much slower pace running with Anne. I will tell you the Mandarin Buffet didn’t help any. Anyhow I’m going to have to do elliptical this week and see if it will help me stay strong and recover from this issue. If it doesn’t have to have it assessed and see where to go from here. I’m also fighting some bug and was hoping the run would help. I woke with ear aches and a sore throat.

Running Log :: Sore Shin
Well my right shin is absolutly killing me. I tried to tape it properly but the tape came off around mile 1.5. It seems to have been working well up to that point but after it came off it was all down hill. I’ve got a rest day tomorrow but if it seems to still be painful Saturday I’ll lay up that day also and would even consider Sunday and Monday as rest days. We’ll have to play it by ear. Anyhow the stats tell the story.
Running Log :: SORE SHIN
Ok I had to stop part way trough my run to just try and stretch my shin out a bit. I’m going to go have to get some sports tape and tape it up for my next couple runs. I’m not letting this get in the way of my training again. I have never had pain in the right leg before and I’m sure it’s all related to the overcompensation of the left leg ankle fracture. Anyhow I’ll do some shin taping and do more track and trail running. I did the half on the weekend on the road and todays run on the road and the pace on the weekend was quicker than it should have been over those hills. Need lots of rest, ice, elevate th leg and I should be able to get through this. I also shouldn’t have used the skipping rope last night at the gym.
Workout :: shin
Well went for a good workout tonight. The only problem came when I was trying to do my supersets (2 exercises plus skipping) as my right shin is still nagging. Anyhow I did chest (dumbell bench and dumbell incline bench), back (wide grip chins), abs — part of supersets (toe catches, hanging leg raises, elbow to knee), arms (dumbell curls, cable pressdowns) and legs (lunges and hamstring curls). It was a good workout. I’m impressed I even got there as I had spend about an hour laying down on the couch in front of the TV and it’s a 10 min drive to the gym. I just hate going when there are lots of people so I went at 10pm and was there till about 11:15pm.
Running Log :: Kids today
Well kids today aren’t as tough as their older counterparts… Was running with Matt who is training for his first half. I needed the relaxed pace so it was a great run. Anyhow did a little over 3 miles, I only needed to do 3 and he needed 3.5. What he needs are new shoes so he’ll be heading down to Running Room tonight. Anyhow did 3.2 miles in 34:44 for an average pace of 10:51 min miles. Actually we were only moving for 32:22 (I was waiting around) so pace was 32:22. The first mile wasn’t bad I kept him under 9 minutes.
Happy 3rd Birthday BLOG
Well my Blog is now 3 years old. It’s incredible how much information is stored on this site about the last three years of my life. There are 858 entries and 4834 images. I have really lived it up in the last three years and have gone through so many changes. I went from married to single. Run many races, suffered injuries, sadness, happiness. I’ve done some travelling by plane and by car. Had some good and not so good relationships and have run the spectrum of emotions. It’s amazing how much can happen in the year of a person. In this case in three years. Anyhow for all of you that make your way back here from time to time to see what is going on I hope you enjoy what you read. I hope it could be inspirational, inspiring, maybe show you that you aren’t alone in certain feelings or maybe that you can overcome some injuries or emotions. Anyhow “Happy 3rd Birthday Blog!”
Workout :: No gas
Well went for a lunch workout and man was I out of gas. There is just no energy in the tank. Ok there was a little energy, I did manage to workout but there were no supersets other than some toe catches while I was doing dumbell curls. Anyhow I did abs, arms and shoulders. Really easy going workout just to make sure I don’t get out of the habit. Tonight is a rest night and then back running tomorrow. I think it’s just a 3 miler so after yesterday, that’s nothing.
Running Log :: Worcester Half Marathon
Ok this was the marathon from hell. I broke all the rules starting with the don’t get drunk the night before. I was at the Eagles Concert the night before and well they were serving Sam Adams Boston Lager on tap, what is a man to do… Anyhow rule number two, know the course. I didn’t go over the course in the car first to see what I was in for and this was by far the hilliest course I’ve ever seen in my life. 150′ climbe over about a 1/4 mile. That was just one of the many hills. I actually did better than I thought when I looked at the final results but I’m sure I could have done really well as I started out pretty strong and fell apart right way with the hills not conserving energy figuring “there can’t be any more of these”. They had these hills across the entire course. The saving grace and only reason I finished is because Anne came to watch and I told here to meet me at Dunkin Donuts if I wasn’t done by 1:45. So I had to make sure to get in before that or she wouldn’t see me cross the finish. Anyhow great run, great trip and amazing company…
Concert :: Keith Urban, Dixie Chicks and the Eagles
Well this was really last minute. Anne and I decided we’d head down to Massachusetts to see Keith Urban, the Dixie Chicks and The Eagles at Gillette Stadium (Home of the New England Patriots) in Foxborough Mass. If I can say anything about the concert that really blew me away it was the sound quality. Oh and the Rain. I have never been rained on like I was at this concert. Regardless of the rain it was easily on of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. I’m sure having such an easy date makes it all the better. Anyhow we got there good an early and headed to an Olive Garden for some food before the show. Had some great wine, great beer and great laughs. Our waitress was equally amazing. After the meal we started to make our way to the stadium and couldn’t believe people even tailgate for a concert. I guess any excuse for a BBQ and beer for the Yanks is great. Everyone we met while in Mass were great. Friendly, ready to give you info and helping hints. Anyhow I just loved this concert. Oh and what is up with Nats’ Hair. Yikes.
Road Trip :: Woohoo
Well headed down to Massachusetts for a concert and a run and a great weekend with Anne. It was an amazingly easy drive. Even though it was about 8 hours it felt like nothing, the time just flew by. We were staying at the Comfort in in Milford Massachusetts and it was great.

Great price and great clean rooms and the continental breakfast was also very good although we almost didn’t make it. On our first night we tried a resteraunt called Prezo’s and the Pizza we settled on was with fried bredded chicken and sausage to be like the Americans. My god we had to throw out the left overs as neither Anne nor myself could handle the greese. My stomach was going crazy. Anyhow great times. Next day is pick up race kit time.
