Concert :: Henry Clay, Against Me and Sliversun Pickups
Awesome concert last night. Saw the Henry Clay People, Against Me and Sliversun Pickups. Took Syd for her first concert and it was awesome. I’m sooooo exhausted as we didn’t get back till almost 3am having missed the last subway that goes all the way to Finch where the cars were (left at work). We ended up on Buses, Subway, more buses, walking and then a coffee and bathroom break on the walk back to the office. Anyhow I was really impressed with Against Me. I have heard them on the radio but never more than one or two songs. Just love this band.
Summer Fun
Took me a bit of time to upload these pics, they were from my last weekend with the girls. I tell you by Monday when it wasn’t my weekend I sure do miss having them around. They had a blast the weekend these were taken, spending sooooo much time outside. Now that I’m back jumping they will have a blast at the DZ and the lake and the Park in Port Colborne of course. Anyhow life is good!
Skydiving :: Four Jumps
Well went out Friday for a refresher at the DZ of emergency procedures and canopy piloting 101 as it had been 11 months since my last jump. After many hours listening to Scottie it was time to get up in the Cessna. Was a good jump and felt great to be back. Partied more than I wanted to Friday night and stayed up way later then I should have but the 4.something hours I did get were good. At 6:30 I dragged my ass out of bed and did my run into Port and back. There wasn’t any jumping for me on Saturday so I came back to Hamilton and waited for a better day, which was today. Today I got there early and got up on second load and had four great jumps. Worked on backflying as well as canopy piloting. I’m hoping to get down to a 170′ and got my checklist of tasks to accomplish first. My first landing today was a rough one and with my sore legs from yesterday it was a wakeup call to concentrate and get to work. I guess that is why after four jumps I’m so exhausted. I wanted to go up for one more with Rick for some photos but just to bagged. Another time I guess. For the most part it was a good day.
Running Log :: hung over
Well there is no better way to work through a hangover than a run. So at 6:30 am I laced up the shoes and made my way to the street to do 14 miles. I actually did it and felt awesome after. Anyhow I kept the pace slow to make sure not to injure myself, this is recovery running. Did 14 miles in 1:57:19 for an average pace of 8:25 minute miles.
Workout and a Jump
Well wanted to go to the DZ and get out of this jumping funk. It’s been 11 months and I just had to get up there and jump so today first to the gym then to the DZ. At the gym did abs, arms, shoulders and elliptical 2.5 miles. Anyhow then to the DZ. Go there and sat in on Scotties ground school from 2pm till about 6 pm at which time it was time to get up. Got into the Cessna and climed to 10,500 and sat by the door first one out. Did 2X left and right 360′s and then just rode the pipe working on stability. It was first one so didn’t want to get greedy. After that it was time to land and I was jumping the 190 again so was a bit quick comming in and dropped it just under 30′ to the peas. WOOHOO… After the jump some serious partying started and went on till after 2am.
Workout and Cardio
As I’m still not running I did a workout and elliptical. I should have done about 7 miles but didn’t have time because of the workout also. I’ll make up for it tomorrow morning and do a long one tomorrow. I did 3 miles in just over 24 minutes burning 430 calories. The workout was chest (dumbbell bench press, dumbbell incline bench and cross cables), abs (decline situps and hanging leg raises) and arms (cable curls and reverse cable pressdown). Was a great workout and now I feel all rejuvinated.
Earthquake?
I knew the guy was working on the Boiler and thought he really screwed up and it was maybe in trouble when my offfice in the basement started to shake. The shaking went on for about 15 seconds and I realized there is no way this guy is moving the boiler so much as to shake my walls, monitor and the desks. I quickly made my way upstairs to see everyone talking asking “did you feel that”? Ok so then Paul in Kitchener asks if I felt it and friends from Toronto messging me asking if I felt it and then Dan in Ottawa, “I thought my washing machine was blowing up, I didn’t know Canada get’s earthquakes”. Wow just incredible. Anyhow I have never felt anything like that so it’s one more thing to add to my life experiences. For more info on the quake you can read about it here.
Elliptical :: ARRRRR and a workout
Well I have to keep my mileage up but can’t run at the moment. I’m sure it’s all related to the imbalance I’ve developed as a result of the broken left ankle. Anyhow I’ve been reading and doing those hills in the half marathon and the skipping session last week I’m sure all contributed. Anyhow I wanted to get 4 miles in so I hit the elliptical after my workout. I did back (wide grip chins), arms (dips and dumbbell curls), shoulders and chest (barbell shoulder presses and dips) and abs (toe catches, elbow to knee crunches and decline crunches). Was a good workout and then hit the elliptical for 34 minutes. 600 calories and 4 miles. Feel much better now. Tomorrow I have to get 7 miles in on the elliptical and this weekend decide if I’m running or staying on the elliptical as I’ll be doing 13 miles.
