Ottawa Race Weekend

Well spend the weekend on a roadtrip with Paul to Ottawa for his half marathon. Also managed to catch the Chicago Philly game and some cool people picked up our tab. The trip back to the Carelton Residence where we stayed was hellish as I drank far to much. I was trying to get Paul drunk for his marathon but it seemed to backfire. All in all it was an amazing weekend. The marathon winner was Japanese and he beat the Kenyan by 10 seconds. It was amazing.

African Lion Safari

Well today I was one of the parent volunteers on the African Lion Safari trip with the twins class. It was quite the trip, nice and hot and the kids were great. It’s incredible actually just how fast the day passes. Anyhow here are some of the great pics from the day.

Tattoo :: Salvador Dali

I have been a huge fan of Salvador Dali since grade 9 art class. My favorite piece has been “The Persistence of Memory”. It’s funny I’ve been to NY City twice and haven’t seen it but on my next visit I will surely make my way to the Museum of Modern Art to check it out. It is of course his most famous piece and a part of pop culture. I remember as a kid the odd landscapes in some Looney Tunes Cartoons only to later learn they were takes on Salvador Dali’s style of work. Anyhow when I was married the house was more of a “Tricia Romance” home and it didn’t bother me to purchase prints for my wife but Dali prints were out of the question. Now that I “can do what I want” I have reclaimed my love for Dali and incorporated it into my tattoo.
Thanks to Craig Grainger at Mata Mata Studios for a great job. It will be a while before I get the inside of my other arm done, quite the painful spot.

Port Dalhousie :: TIRED

Well took all the kids to Port Dalhousie today and I have to say I am truly exhausted. This was crazy. The heat, the sun and a relatively warm lake. The girls and boys had a blast. I always say you have to keep them busy and just stay out of the house and this weekend has been exactly that. I really need a break, hahahah. Took the girls home and am now watching the game.

Another Hike

Well took the kids for another hike today after swimming and gymnastics. It was another hike up Chedoke Trail and to the Chedoke falls. This is so not an easy hike with kids, 3 of whom were 5 (x2) and a 4 year old. Quite the challenge. Anhow we ended up on the golf course as well and high tailed it off the green to the soulds of fourrrrrrrrrrrr. Hahahahah After the hike was a nice BBQ and pint at Anne’s with her parents and all the kids, including Syd.

Fishing

Well took the girls out to my dads after swimming lessons today. Was raining off and on all day today and before supper decided to grab the poll and see if I can catch anything. Caught 3 bass in a matter of minutes. Even managed to catch a decent little one.

Running Log :: Chedoke Trail

Well I’m trying to take it easy this week as training for the Scotiabank starts next week. I’m going to lay up from now till next Tuesday and that is the first run of the 18 week training program. Today I did the Chedoke Trail and the right shin is still pretty tender. I’m hoping that 3 days rest will be enough and starting off slow next week will help. I ran from work to the top of the Trail and back. Great little run.

Twins B-day

Well the twins bday and we took them out and they chose the resteraunt. How I so do not like Montanna’s. It has absolutly the worst menu and the blandest food. Just reminds me of an old persons resteraunt where they don’t want to offend the patronage wtih any kind of spice or taste. The kids like it for B-day because they get to wear the cool hat. The entire thing reminds me of the Simpsons Episode where Moe’s Tavern becomes Uncle Moe’s Family Feedbag. Love how the staff had a hard time with the twins names… AHAHAHA (There are a couple other random pics from the rec. centre)

Running Log :: Quite sore

Well the legs are still pretty tired and sore from the run on Sunday. Next few runs will have to be a bit slower just to give myself some fresh legs for marathon training. Weather was awesome so you have to like that part. I love running in the spring and summer. So much better than a cold February run.

Beer Brewing

Well we brewed two different full grain beers. Made the Smithwicks once again and also tried a Tankhouse. My oh my the tankhouse turned out amazing. Adding the flavor hops after the boil process gave it an amazing aroma. What a brew. Absolutly love it, think this will be last batch of Smithwicks for a spell in favor of this Tankhouse.
