Went on the Chedoke Trail with the girls but this time started at the bottom and got off the main path right away. We ended up taking a pretty extensive hike and found some awesome water falls.. The girls were pretty brave and one of the twins a bit to brave I think. It was great and got some great pictures. At the end they wanted to do the stairs once. The did it and didn’t talk the whole way home, they were already falling asleep. Washed up quick, brushed teeth and they fell asleep in about 5 minutes. Woohoo!

Workout :: another great day
Could we have better weather? Man this is the spring of springs. I work in the basement of the building I’m in which many of you are aware of. I also leave the blinds closed far to often. Heading out for my workout I stepped outside and blamo! Amazing sunshine, all I wanted to do was skip the workout and hit “la terrace pour un verre!” My oh my. Well being the dedicated individual I am I hit the gym instead. Up the stairs of the dingy Rockyesque workout palace for repetition after repetition. I had a great workout and avoided the air conditioning puddle in the middle of the place. Anyhow did shoulders (shoulder press, bent over seated laterals and overhead barbell press), back (wide grip chins), abs (toe raises with twist, planks, hang leg raises, elbow to knees) and a bit of arms (preacher curl machine and tricep machine.
Mower :: USED
Well sticking with the used theme as much as possible this year I purchased a used electric mower (mulcher). This cost me $15. I know you look at pictures and think how can it be, that is impossible. There is no way he spend $15 hard earned dollars on that piece of s$#%!!! Well let me tell you, what an amazing job it does mowing if it doesn’t kill you or take your eyes out. The guy actually asked me when I contacted him on Kijiji if I had seen the pictures. The proceded to ask me if I was sure I still wanted it. I said I don’t have a shed yet so it’s going to stay outside and I’m not spending good money on a mower to leave it outside to rust. Well that was perfect cause it’s already rusted… hahahah. Anyhow it’s a great mower and it was cheep…. Oh and he suggested I wear either large sunglasses or safety glasses when I use it as the cover is off the top and objects have hit him in the face in the past… Oh and last suggestion was to plug it in at the mower first and then in the wall as the wires are exposed…
Running Log :: not quite
Well I didn’t quite get in the full run I wanted. I had three of the girls so decided the only way I was going to get my run in was at Hamilton’s AAA while the girls play in the park. Before leaving the house made sure I asked girls if they had to go to washroom and got the resounding no! Oh silly man, I still haven’t learned. I should have said “ok everyone needs to try and go to the bathroom!” ARRR. Sure enough about 12 minutes into my run the middle daughter comes running I need to go to bathroom. I stop my GPS she sais I can run into the rec centre myself so I thinking go ahead. I “restart the GPS” and keep my eyes peeled on each lap for her and see her come back. Then I realize I didn’t hit the restart button but had been keeping an eye on my pace and number of laps (4 laps per mile). Anyhow then one of the twins needs to go to bathroom I’m thinking at this point “forget it –different words actually” and so I gather the girls and take them home for bathroom break and so I can shower. I ran a between 2.5 and 2.75 miles. Anyhow left leg was a bit sore after stopping suddenly so probably a blessing in disguise.
Workout :: Traffic
Well another day in Toronto today and will have the girls now through Sunday so it’s either morning or afternoon workous. I didn’t want to sit in traffic today as I’m in Toronto so decided to get here for 7am again so that I can get my workout in before work. I’ll get my run in at lunch and then I’m done for the day. It started out very rough today, everything hurt and I was extremely tired (bed late). Anyhow it got better as I progressed into the workout and managed to get an excellent workout in. I did chest (dumbell flat and incliine presses, cross cable), arms (dips, rever cable pressdown, cable curls, conentration curls, overhead rope) and abs (toe catches, elbow to knee and hanging leg raises).
Running Log :: Crazy uphill run
Well I headed out to run up the Chedoke trail on this beautiful Wednesday. I was determined to see what I can do given I did a hard leg workout yesterday. I was very surprised by my pace uphill. I did an out and back but did 3 miles up and 2 miles down walking back the last mile (which I didn’t record). What an awesome pace. I had a very nice split considering more than half the run was uphill.
Octopus???
I have always wondered what is up with the Octopus at the Red Wings playoff games. I’ve seen it so many times but never really looked into it, whether asking someone or looking on the net. Well tonight again the Wings are way up and the Octopus are being thrown on the ice. Well here you have it…
The Legend of the Octopus is a sports tradition during Detroit Red Wings home playoff games where octopuses are thrown onto the ice surface. The origins of the activity go back to the 1952 playoffs, when a National Hockey League team played two best-of-seven series to capture the Stanley Cup. The octopus, having eight arms, symbolized the number of playoff wins necessary for the Red Wings to win the Stanley Cup. The practice started April 15, 1952 when Pete and Jerry Cusimano, brothers and storeowners in Detroit’s Eastern Market, hurled an octopus into the rink of The Old Red Barn.[1] The team swept the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens en route to winning the championship, as well as winning two of the next three championships.

Running Log :: Jack and Jill
Well felt like Jack and Jill as we headed on an out and back but it was more like Serge and Anne went down the hill with nothing just a bottle of water, they hobbled down and gasped back up both feeling hotter and hotter. Well was a great 3 miler. I wasn’t sure what I would do but after the leg workout today I decided to keep it to the easy 3 mile run and also it’s fun being someones pace bunny. Had a great run and look forward to so many more.
Workout :: determined to beat traffic
Well I was determined today to beat the traffic to work and get a workout in to start my day. I really have to get back into working out in the mornings and getting my runs in later in the day. I managed to get up just after 5am and be on the road for 5:45am. I got to work without to many problems. Anyhow got to the school and managed to get an awesome workout in. Did arms, abs and legs. Feeling great!
Workout :: Exhausted
Well after yesterdays hill run down the Red Hill I really was pretty spent. I really didn’t want to take up this morning but eventually got going (thanks for the coffee in bed) and made my way to work. Making my way to the gym was very much the same feeling, really didn’t want to go today but this coming weekend is my weekend with the girls so have to go get it done when you can.
Got my butt in there and started with back (wide grip chins) then chest (dumbbell bench, dumbbell incline bench and cross cables) and abs (toe catches, elbow to knee, hanging leg raises and one set of ticktocks). There was also so arms to be done and for that I did, cable curls, reverse cable press and dips. Was a good workout and when I walked out of the gym into the awaiting sunshine, it felt amazing…
