Well got to the Jingle 5k and parked at “The Hotel”. I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to find the starting line but was able to just follow the Santa’s. I was planning to do a nice and easy 5k but about half a kilometer into the race I decided to pick it up a bit. I’m not sure what my finishing time was as I forgot to turn off the Garmin at the end. I’ll have to wait for the results. Great run, very well organized and what a scenery, 2500 Santa’s. Was great because Dodie was there to support her special Santa and also managed to capture some great pics. Was fun because all the girls got to come.
Ok the time is in 21:40 and 5th out of 67 in my age group (35-40).

Jingle 5K race in Burlington
Phone Pics
Found a bunch of pictures on my phone and they range from nature hikes with the girls to a date in Buffalo with a great woman, Starbucks, the girls at the office playing on the white board. Well playing, more like bugging each other and then I took part. There are also pics of the Rainbow, soup and cappuccinos. Went to eat with girls at Bronzies and also Montanas. Anyhow just put them all here.
Santa Suit
Well had to try on the suit for tomorrow run. This is going to be hilarious… I love it.
Running Log :: BRRRR Soaker
I missed my run yesterday being in Toronto, still sore from burnout the day before and going straignt to Fort Erie after run. My shoes also needed to dry out from running in the rain on Wed. Today I went to pick up my Santa suit for tomorrows run and as it’s only 5k and I’m supposed to do 7 miles I figured I’d keep it to 5K and make sure I got my run in today. Well today as you can see was very cold and windy. On the out portion of my out and back (which is uphill) the wind was square in the face. 46km/h wind and some serious gusts. Around the parking lot of the Chedoke Golf course there is nothing to block that wind and it was a real tough spot. Much of the run was also run on ice since the rains from the other day have frozen over. Near the top of the 2 miles out I fell through what I though was shallow solid ice and it ended up being about 6″ deep and I had to run the back portion with completely soaked feet. I did the out and back in pretty good time, 4 miles in 30:07 for an average pace of 7:32 minute miles.
Kit pickup :: Santa Jingle Run 2009
Well went and picked up my race kit not realizing that they weren’t available till noon but the great people at Running Room Burlington took me early anyhow so I wouldn’t have to go back and forth. Another reason these smaller races are always great, they are personal. There are to my surprise 2500 people expected to run in tomorrows race. Anyhow I have the suit and am all excited as just about everyone is coming to watch! I figured I’d add the sponsors here as they make it possible and as I mentioned already, thanks for taking me early!
Running Log :: Burn out
Well for many reasons this was a horrible run. I burned right out at mile 6. Was supposed to be an easy 7 mile run and started out that way “sort of”… The rain was really coming down when I started and there was still ice on the ground so was being careful. I have not had water today (oversight) and didn’t bring any with me. I only had a bagel and two toasts this morning, hardly enough food to sustain that run. I just wasn’t doing it right. I’ll have to take better care and be more prepared for my long run Sunday. I need to get stricter with my water intake and make sure I’m fueling my body enough. I laid up a bit past 6.5 miles for fear of injury and walked back the rest of the way. Did 6.7 miles in 51:45 for an average pace of 7:45 minute miles. Sometimes you have to know when to lay up. Something I’ve learned the hard way in the past.
Runnnig Log :: 4 miles
Well great run today. Ran a 4 mile run up the Chedoke Trail and it went exceptionally well. There was a very light dusting of snow on the trail and I’m not looking forward t running in the heavy stuff and that will be coming soon enough. The run was an out and back as you can see by the map. I did the entire run in 28:40 for an average pace of 7:10 minute miles. 17 seconds per mile below my Marathon Pace. I’m confident now that I will qualify at my next race in Hyannis Port.
Running Log :: 9 miler
Well went for my run an out and back along the chedoke trail with the new Garmin. It was a tough run today, legs very sore but a great massage last night really helped. I ran up the Chedoke trail and found an great extension and trail that took me pretty much to Wilson Street in Ancaster. I had a good run and good pace considering I was taking it easy. Did 9 miles in 1:11:40 for an average pace of 7:57 minute miles. The Elevation is almost 400meters uphill.
Running Log :: NEW GPS
Great run but legs were very tired, well the glutes anyhow. I did lunges during my workout yesterday and was feeling it today. Did my run in Fort Erie and there was snow and ice on the ground. I have a new Garmin 305 but forgot to throw on the heart monitor. The new garmin is great with it’s USB connection and statistics. Anyhow my run was 6 miles with an average pace of 7:29 minute miles and total run time of 45:20.
Running Log :: tired 3 miles
Well went for my 3 miler along the Chedoke trail and it was just quick up and down. Should have had a camera with me, the waterfalls are awesome with the rain. Anyhow legs were quite tired today but I got through it and tomorrow is a rest day and I’m looking forward to it. Did my 3 miles in 23:50 for an average pace of 7:57 minute miles. I think it was actually a bit faster because the GPS seemed to jump back. From my start point to my turn around was about 1.65 miles and when I got back to my starting point I should have been done about .3 before but I ended up having to run past it. Anyhow I’ll be picking up a new GPS as this one (Forerunner 101) has served me well.
