Oh so much frustration an so little time. Headed to the gym at lunch to at least get a cardio session in. I went to gym and just jumped on elliptical. I need to find something to hold my book open when I’m on there. I was trying to finish time travelers wife while doing my cardio session but it’s difficult to keep the book open and after 7 minutes it was driving me insane. Anyhow I pushed through 5 miles and about 750 calories in a few seconds past 40 minutes. No kids this weekend so I’m going to go crazy at the gym this weekend. Anyhow it’s good I did it because at the moment I’m having beer and I know I would be feeling guilty otherwise.

Cardio :: Lunch
Workout :: Early Morning

Well I haven’t gotten up early for my workout in quite some time but this morning I found myself in bed away and really needed to get a workout in. I really enjoyed getting there and getting the workout in. I did chest and abs and some cardio. I think I’m going to get back into these morning workout but I’ll have to change my eating a bit so that I have the energy in the morning. I always found it was easier to eat healthy and manage the junk intake when the workout was in the morning. My Marathon training begins on the 26th so I’m letting my leg get some rest and opted for elliptical this morning. I miss that sunrise, I managed to see that for a month when I was staying in Airlie Beach Australia. Here is a live cam from Airlie Beach.
LIFE :: LET ME SCREAM
Well I don’t usually put to much personal life stuff on here but every now an then I’m just moved by life and what it throws at you. I signed my separation agreement today and right now I want to scream at the top of my lungs that the world sucks ass. You know I started out with the greatest of intentions. A certainty consumed me when I met “the one” that all the signes to the contrary were ignored. Maybe that is what makes someone the one, the fact that you can overlook it all, at least in the beginning.
You take turns wearing the blinders when the other has issues, does something wrong, needs help or what ever it may be. Eventually the blinders can’t drown out the noise. Life’s noises! Today there is a huge noise, a scream building up the volcanic eruption that is my soul being beaten. All at once there is the realization that this isn’t going to get fixed, that I will go my way, “the one” will go hers and life will be that, life! I feel like I’ve gone back to Kansas and all of it’s Black and Whiteness! I recognize everyone but the characters are different. To have worked so hard to try and be a good provider and that is what I’ve become. I’m no longer a lover, not a soulmate, not the ones the kids will welcome home after a days work. I’m not the one who will put on the bandaids, not the one who will afford the “good” christmas presents. I’m the one who will help fund those memories. I’m the one who will spend 18% of a months hours with my children, half of that time they are asleep. What kind of impact can someone have with 18% of a persons life. I can still remember driving them home from the hospital, each and every one of them. I was so excited, so overjoyed. They are beside me as I write this and I still can’t feel anything but love for them and wish that it had turned out different.
Again one more method to realize that the sun will rise, the day will pass by and the sun will set. My body will age, my soul will grow old and some day I can just hope that those little biographers that are my children will have something good to say. I am what I am, a prisoner of my own choices! A poor oceanographer trying to circumnavigate the waters of my life! I look to the stars hoping they will guide me, I’ve made lots of wishes and unfortunately they just seem to keep coming true, careful what you wish for.
Silversun Concert
Well my friend Meredith took me to an awesome concert and I just loved it. Went to the Sound Academy (formerly the docks) to listen to An Horse, Cage the Elephant and the main attraction Silversun PIckups. I met up with my friend Meredith at Union Station and we made our way to the Loose Moose for nachos. Had a great time and we made our way back to Union after where Meredith introduced me to her brother. Anyhow making our way to the Sound Academy we passed by Cirque de Soleil and I heard on the news that there was an injury during the performance while we were in Sound Academy. Anyhow the inside of the Sound Academy is pretty awesome, great venue. First up was An Horse, two piece from Brisbane and first couple songs were good but eventually they started to all sound the same and I think the fact the guitar was the same through every song was the problem. Same guitar, same tuning, same pedal. Good but limited. After that was Cage the Elephant. This band should be called Elephant in a China shop. Man kick in the balls power! Cross between old punk and skater music. Great band and I was surprised at 38 that I can still get into it. I really loved their song Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked and would definitely go and see this band again. Up next, Silversun PIckups. Amazing. Not much else to say, raw power amazing for a four piece and Smashing Pumpkins ish but with their own style. What is it about women playing bass. WOW! Was a great concert with great company (thanks Meredith) and I will stop there on that subject.
I left my car at work and we had to go get it. In short, bus back to Union, subway up to Lawrence, bus up to Finch, walk to Drewry. From there drive back to Third Line and drop off Meredith which was around 2:45 am. All in a nights work!
Workout/Run (gym at lunch)
Well not a ton of time at lunch today so figured I’d get a fast run in and a quick workout. I need to relax a bit before I begin my 18 week progression to next marathon. Did a bit of a speed workout today for my short run doing 3 miles in 21 minutes (the first two miles in 13:50). Burned 400 calories in that run and then headed over for a quick workout. Did back (wide grip chins), arms (cable curls), chest (dumbell bench), abs (hanging leg raises). See how my legs feel later and hit the gym again and do more ab work and a leg workout.
Workout :: ridin the mini
Well went for a great workout and a ride in a Mini Cooper (Rocks) except for the sweaty bum. Anyhow went to York street and they advised me that it closes at 2pm and it was already 1;30 so headed up to Upper Wentworth. What a workout. Mixed up the order of the workout and started with shoulders (overloaded the end of the workout with an extra 45lb weight per side). After that some lateral raises. Chest was next with dumbell bench and incline dumbell bench. Wide grip chins, seated row. Then cardio room for ab workout. Toe catches mixed with skipping, elbow to knee with skipping and dumbell curls, planks with skipping, then hanging leg raises with dips and front plate squats. After that tricep machine and I was burned out.
Crazy Montreal Weekend
Well went to Montreal for the weekend and it was absolutely crazy. Got there Friday night just in time to grab a shower and head out drinking. Drank far to much in a little bar in Verdun and then headed to another great bar to meet Vicky and her friend. Long taxi ride there and lots of beer. Next morning got up, dealt with the hang over went to visit family and then headed to meet up with Paul and many beers (Becks) later and some shenanigans meeting up with Vicky again and learning to redirect traffic hahahah.
Marathon :: Decided
Well I think I have decided on my Boston Qualifier. I’m not ready to train for Disney (would have had to start a couple weeks ago) for the 18 week progression and would like to do something closer to home. Well New England it is, Hyannisport Massachusetts to be specific. Seeing as I want to Qualify for Boston, why not do it close by. The Hyannis Marathon is in February which will be perfect. I need 3:15 to qualify for Boston so this will be it.
Running Log :: 401 and back
Well headed out for my run today not having run since my run on Sunday. I don’t like 3 days layoff but I had sore left calf and was still getting over this cold (still have my dry cough). Anyhow this is approx 2.5 miles (no GPS today) and I did it in 34 minutes but there was a 1 min walk at the half way point. I love this run because it really makes me weave and dodge both cars at intersections, lights and mostly pedestrians. These same people who feel anyone who isn’t walking super slow and procupied with the crap they are stuffing into their pie holes, drinking slurpies and Starbucks and smoking their cigarettes they are now worthy of the sidewalk.
Anyhow was a great run and the weather was awesome, sunshine and still warm enough for shorts and a T-shirt.
Workout :: LUNCH
Well headed to gym for lunch and had a great workout. Pretty intense actually using supersets and skipping cardio in between sets. Today was a back, shoulders and abs day but also did some arms during ab workout as superset. Back workout was wide grip chins and seated rows, shoulders consisted of shoulder presses and lateral raises. I changed the shoulder press hammersmith machine using a middle and end weight (45 and 25 lbs per side respectivly). Ab workout consisted of skipping and toe catches, skipping and elbow to knee, hanging leg raises with dips (tricepts and chest) and squat front plate (25lbs — abs and quads). Also did a set of dumbell curls with skipping between each set. After the workout I was burned. Managed to get it all in in just under an hour.
