Oh my legs were tired today. I really didn’t push hard at all as it was extremely hot again (26C feels like 35C with humidity). As someone put it today it was like running in soup. I went for a nice and easy 3.5 mile run but my calves were tight before I even started. I did a walk in between each mile and that seemed to keep me from getting into any serious discomfort issues. Anyhow I did a 3.5mile run in 31:07 for an average pace of 8:53 minute miles. Made sure to take lots of water and not push to hard. Hoping tomorrow legs will loosen up a bit.. I’ll get some good stretching in the rest of the day.

Running Log :: Bacon arrrrr
Well decided to get try and get the run in a bit earlier but the %#$ upstairs from me decided to see just how late he can party. Don’t worry I’ll make him pay tonight with some guitar. Anyhow headed up the Chedoke trail for my run and really wasn’t sure how far I was going to run, this was just recovery after yesterdays long run. Did the 4 mils in 34:23 for an average pace of 8:34 which included 3 one minute walking sessions. I think every house along my run route was making bacon this morning. Could my cravings have been any worse?
Running Log :: 9 miles
Well went out for a 9 mile run today (14.5km) along the Chedoke Trail and crossed the 403 today. It was a great run, no real complication, pain or anything like that. I did the run a mile walk 60 seconds method and that seem to be keeping the pain down and my times are still really good. I did the run in 1:17:32 for an average pace of 8:36 minute miles. I’m still thinking abour running the Scotiabank half at this point as I really miss running a race. It was getting pretty hot out there this morning, it was already 24C at 10 am and you could feel it. There was lots of shade on the Chedoke Trail but there were also lots of sections with no shade and wow could you feel those.
Burnaby :: Weekend
A few good pics taken from the DZ the weekend before Nationals. Had a great time that weekend. Going to miss everyone this weekend as I’m off to Montreal!
Running Log :: and some Bloodletting?
Man I wish I had my camera today along my run. I ran the Chedoke Trail again today but took it further at the top heading all the way to the foot bridge at the 403. Today was a 7 mile run with a 1 min walk per mile. Ran the 7 mile in 57:21 for an average pace of 8:11 min miles and if you factor in the minute walk I’m looking at an actual run pace of 7:30 minute miles. Along my run they were filming somthing at the Chedoke Golf Course. They put a red cross on the clubhouse and it almost looked like an old MASH building. I asked what they were filming and they said Bloodletting base on the book Bloodletting and other miraculous cures. I’ve read that book and it was awesome. It will be a miniseries. I can’t wait to see it when it comes out now. It’s being filmed in Toronto and Hamilton. Here is a bit of information for those of you that are curious. http://www.vincentlam.ca/090608-tv-series.php
Running Log :: pushed a bit hard
Well I was doing quite well on my run today and then someone came up along side me on their bike and started chitchatting with me and offered me some watter and followed me up the last mile. I would say she more or less set the pace so I went a bit quicker than I’ve been running lately. Anyhow it was a good run I did 5 miles in 42:38 for an average pace of 8:31 minute miles. Acutally I walked for 4 minutes in there (1 minute at every mile marker) so the actual running pace is about 7:43 which is a bit faster than I wanted to run. I need to focus on my recovery. Afte rthe run I also did the stairs at Dundurn 1 X so that helpes with stretching and warm down.
Workout :: lunch and Basketball
What was I thinking? I can barely walk now! Decided to workout at the office today in Toronto. That was all good and fine, did an ok lunch workout, quick but hit what I wanted to hit. Did some chest (dumbell bench), abs (hang leg raises, crunches and planks), arms (dumbell curls and behind head dumbell – triceps). Then they asked, want to play basketball at lunch? Sure why not, what could it hurt, some extra cardio…. Man, I caught a knee on the quad and went down like a led zepplin! It’s now about 2 hrs later and I’m in sooooooooo much paint… WHAT WAS I THINKING?
RIP Mr. Summer Holidays
It is with great sadness that I bid farewell to Mr. Summer Holidays. Mr. Holidays passed away last night in his sleep. Having lived his short time with us to his fullest he leaves behind great memories. Summer didn’t waste any time taking advantage of this great gift called life. He benefited from his time it with family, friends and his great children. Mr. Holidays was an avid swimmer and proved it battling the great waves of the Wild Water Park having also rescued his daughter numerous times. An outdoorsman, summer slept outside once under the stars next to a campfire. Summer made some great friends during time with them, some skydiving, some while on his numerous adventures and other exploring. Mr. Holidays also spent much time staying in shape running and going to the gym but alas time keeps on ticking and even while working toward his goal of obtaining the Tom Selleck body he so desperately wanted it all came to a sad end last night at 11:36pm. Mr. Summer Holidays leaves behind an Ex Wife, 4 beautiful girls, his friends at Skydive Burnaby and a few Comares.
One Scoop or two?
Well the girls wanted ice cream, oh and the bannana bread I made oh and Ice Tea etc. etc. etc. I told them it’s fine to enjoy treats but you have to also get out and get some exercise. Anyhow we walked from Victoria Park to the Dundurn St. Stairs and up the stairs. Told Sydney and Airlie if they go up and down 4X they can have two scoops! They quickly agreed without seeing the stairs, hahahahhaa. Anyhow they did manage to do it about three times so two scoops it was considering it was a bout 3km walk anyhow. UPDATE : TXT From Syd, her legs are tired!
Running Log :: Jack and Jill
Well not quite Jack and Jill more like Serge and Nyah and Tailem went up the hill, two girls in a charriot stroller. That isn’t my actual Charriot but close enough. Anyhow decided to run up the Chedoke Trial pushing the girls in the Charriot and the girls have a combined weight of 70lbs. What a workout, 4 miles in 36:01. After the run up the stairs we all walked up the Chedoke Stairs. The twins were actually able to do it but I carried them down. Was an awesome workout. After a quick cappuccino at Starbucks.
