Running Log :: and a workout

Ok so decided I have to still get my running in and just start my taper a week early and hopefully it doesn’t inhibit my ability to run the marathon. I just can’t push the foor any further without hurting it so figured I’ll just start to taper now. See how far I can run this weekend for the long run. Tonight I did a 3 mile run in 25:55 for an average pace of 8:38 minute miles. I’ll try and push out a 5 mile run tomorrow and see what happens, then a 3 miler and then a 2 hr run which will be the real test. Anyhow did a good workout after the run doing chest, arms, shoulders and abs.

Haven’t Run

Well I haven’t run in a few days now, not since my 20 miler on Sunday. Today is Thursday and my left foot is still very sore. It’s the same pain I suffered from following my Disney Marathon last year (not as severe) and just prior to the Toronto Scotiabank Half Marathon this summer. I’m hoping to give it a 5 mile test this evening. Was going to try it at lunch but figured I’d give it as much as possible. We’ll play tonight by ear also but I really need to get some running in regardless how little. I will have to jump on the elliptical otherwise to keep the cardio up till the marathon.

Snow :: good thing I didn’t park there

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!! Well it’s not a tremendous amount of snow but in southern Ontario it doesn’t take much to turn the morning commute into a nightmare. I was a smart one driving to David’s the night before and staying there.  I was going to park my car at work and walk to his house but decided to leave the car in his underground parking and what a good move. The pictures below are pics of Marie-Eve’s car left overnight in our parking lot…

Running Log :: 20 miles

Well we are almost there (Disney Marathon). Ran inside (BOORING) because it’s dark, raining and almost Christmas (drunk drivers on the road). Anyhow, this was a very uneventful run. I was really not in the mood to run today but had to get this one done, it’s the longest run before the marathon. Anyhow I’m so tired at the moment you are getting just the stats and then I’m done. Oh I could write about how badly I had to go to the washroom near the end and feard I would alienate everyone around me should an unfortunate accident take place. I finished my run and just made it to the washroom. Anyhow I did the 20 miles in 2:49:20 for an average pace of 8:28 minute miles. I really need this taper, my body is starting to feel pretty beat up. I took a protein shake after and can’t wait to see how I feel tomorrow.

Running Log :: 8 miler

Well legs were pretty sore at beginning of it all from last nights workout. I did pick up the pace part way through the run but very difficult. These shorter runs are starting to get teadious. I’m just to psyched about the marathon, the trip and the training is nearing it’s end, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and I can see it now. Anyhow This was a good run but the left tendon I was having trouble with last year is still not fully healed and I can tell that it’s getting near it’s limit at the moment. A layoff is in order and soon. Need to start my taper. Anyhow did 8 miles in 1:06:27 for an average pace of 8:15 minute miles. I can’t wait to see what the legs will be like after the taper. This is the healthiest I’ve been prior to a disney marathon. Usually I’ve been injured and had to resort to water running or elliptical. Finished off with a hard ab workout.

Running Log :: 5 miles

Well only two weeks away from taper. I’m pretty excited at this point. I’ve booked some tunnel time while I’m down in Orlando. This is going to be a great trip and it just seems like it can’t come quick enough. Anyhow not much to write, did 5 mile run in 42 minutes for an average pace of 8:21 minute miles. Also a very hard workout after, legs, arms, shoulders and chest.

Running Log :: 13 miles

Well one more week of increases and then I start the taper to the marathon. Today was was a 13 mile run. I missed my 5 mile run the other night do to a night of a drunkin stooper amongst a work Christmas party. All in all it was a great night. Anyhow today was my long run day and I did a very easy 13 miles without pushing myself at all. I am actually surprised at how easy the 13 mile runs have gotten. I did the 13 miles in 1:49:15 for an average pace of 8:24 minute miles. I was going to run outside but it was just so cold and I really wasn’t ready for the cold and icy runways. It’s just to close to marathon to twist and ankle or something stupid. It was good to run todays as it really helped me clear my head, so much to think about.
