Running Log :: 6 miles (inside)

Well just did a nice little six mile run inside at the gym. Leg is a bit sore from pushing it yesterday so took it easy today on the pace. Run felt good overall, not to much effors. Was acutally a bit board, hate those runs where you are thinking is it over yet. Anyhow all part of the build up for the run. Well the stats are as follows, 6 miles in 50:43 for an average pace of 8:27 minute mile. LIke I said, was taking it easy today.

Running Log :: 3 miles

Well this is week 5 of the 18 week progression and I’m a day behind, I’m doing Tuesdays run today because I did the long run on Sunday. No worries we’ll get back on track in a week when Robin get’s back. Have to get back on track on a reduced week. Anyhow to night was a 3 mile run and had to do it inside (rain) and also had to get a sitter because Robin is in Quebec City for the summit.
Anyhow figured I’d push it a bit seeing as I was on the treadmill. So I did the first 2 miles at a 7:30 min mile pace and the last mile at a 7:00 min mile pace for a total time of 22 minutes for my 3 mile run. We’ll see how the legs feel tomorrow after this. Tomorrow is a six mile run which I’ll do at lunch but keep it around the 8:15-8:20  minute mile.

Skydiving :: two jumps today

Well the weather was awesome and I was in the mood to skydive. I really needed to clear my head and it helped today. I had my four daughters with me as well as a friend of my oldest also so five girls today. I managed to get two jumps in today and did sitfly exit for both. Did a very nice double backloop on the first dive and a good delta on the second.Today was great day also for my landing 6′ and about 12′ from pea. The second jump I set up high but carried it further down the runnway with a nice big wide turn and a few “S” turns back toward the pea to burn off some altitude. All in all amazing day, I’ll a video of a jump a few weeks ago to post soon.

Running Log :: 11 miles (17.5km)

Well I was supposed to do this run yesterday but had a long drive home from my mini trip and legs just weren’t up for it. Then I was going to go this morning (get up super early) but that didn’t happen and then I went skydiving and did 2 jumps. Anyhow I figured I would run inside tonight as it was dark by the time I was ready to head out and figured all the drunks from turkey supper would be out. Got to the gym and they were closing (8pm — today isn’t thanksgiving, it’s tomorrow people). So had to do the run outside, at one point the fog was like pea soup, couldn’t see a thing. Anyhow did my 11 miles and it actually went by pretty well, the run time was a negative split for sure although I didn’t hit the lap button at the half way mark so can’t give it to you. Anyhow I was averaging around 8:10 minute miles for the first 3-4 miles. My 11 mile finish time as 1:26:31 for an average pace of 7:52 minute miles. The run felt great.

Skydive :: Two jumps today

Well today was a beautiful day for a skydive. Got two jumps in today. Had to make sure I got back before grocery store closed or I would have been in “%@$#” hahaha. Anyhow got two jumps in and both were great skydives. Worked on my stability through freefall, sitfly exit as well as my double back loop and my front loop. Canopy flight was good but was way off only my landings, overshoot the pea both times and second time tried some “S” turns. Need to make those “S” turns a bit wider to burn off more altitude. All in all great day! Next entry will be tonight as I still have to get in my 11 mile run.

Running Log :: 3 miles — Also Workout

Well just a quick run tonight, nothing stressful. Building up my mileage slowly. Today was a 3 mile run and I’m taking an extra day off (got a head start this week) before my 11 mile run on Saturday. Anyhow won’t write much tonight, it’s late and I’m just getting back from gym and groceries. Did 3 miles in 23:23 for a pace of 7:47 minute miles. It was a very easy run and the time passed very quickly.

After the run did a workout, did chest (incline bench, decline bench and pecdec) and did legs (leg press, leg curl, sitting calf raises). Feel like I had a great week of working out and running.

Well it arrived today, my CSPA solo certificate. I am now a solo certified skydiver, step one in my quest. I was quite proud when I opened the mailbox and there it was. As of today I have 23 jumps, yes I’m very new but am having lots of fun. The next goal is ‘A’ license. Keep coming back.

Workout :: Back, Shoulders and Abs

Nice hard workout tonight. This has been a great week for getting back into it. Very motivated now that I’ve signed up for another marathon. I’m always better when I have a plan in place and I’m not just going through the motions. Anyhow did good back, shoulders and some abs tonight. 3 mile run tomorrow and then 11 miles this Saturday to finish off the week and a nice swim on Sunday.

Running Log :: Lunch run

Well went to do an indoor run at lunch and did the 6 required miles base on Hal Higdon’s 18 week training program. The run was pretty uneventful, kept the pace nice and easy and worked up a good sweat. Ran the 6 miles (9.65Km) in 57:55 for an average pace of 7:59 minute miles. I have also been working out and I’m still recovering from my 1:42:01 half marathon two weekends ago. Anyhow the training is comming along good, no serious pains or nags. Recover is going well.
