Running Log :: 10 MILES = 16.0934 km

Well just finished a nice 10 mile run. Had to run inside as I couldn’t get out in the morning and by the time I could get out it was dark and the weather was crap. I don’t mind running in dark but when it’s raining it’s just to difficult to be seen by cars. Anyhow I wasn’t sure how it was going to go, legs felt a little heavy at the start but they loosened up pretty quickly. Actually this is the best they have felt yet. I kept the pace at 8:20 minute miles. So the 10 mile (16.0934 km) run took 1:23:20 which is pretty conservative. I just played it smart. Not push hard. I’ll be ready for sure for the half marathon in two weeks. So this was a good week, 25 miles, by far my best since the injury in January.

here dan

Ok I had originally put these pics as private, they were just for my cousin who has also been working out but figured I’ve been working my butt off I might as well show where I’m at. I’m going to take pics like these from time to time to track my progress. I’ll do it every 3-4 weeks. My running mileage is up which is what really help when it comes to the abs, especially for someone who enjoys his beer! Anyhow first half marathon is in two weeks.

Workout :: hard workout

Well was extremely stressed out today for some reason and just couldn’t get past it. Finaly decided to go for a workout but didn’t figure it would help much. Have to say it was amazing. Just worked out hard like a madman and by the end of the workout I felt amazing, total mood change. Did chest, tricepts, biceps and abs. Good Banana-a-Whey shake after to finish it off. Went to Hess Village in the evening with Dan and Jeff.

Running Log :: 5 miles

Well this is my third 5 miler in a row. Legs are feeling great. Upped the pace again keeping the average pace under 8 min miles. Did the first 2 miles at 8 min miles exactly and the last 3 under for an average pace of 7:55 minute miles. The entire fun felt good, I really felt the burn that time. Also checked my weight after the run and I was sitting at 176lbs. I’m very comfortable running at this weight, feel very light. Anyhow to sum it up, 5 miles in 39:37 for average pace of 7:55 minute miles. Toronto Waterfront Half Marathon here I come. Long run this Sunday.

Toronto Half Marathon :: Signed up

Well I’ve signed myself up for the half marathon. This will be my first race since the injury last January. I’m quite excited and really need to see how recovery is going. I’ll decide on my half marathon a a month right after I cross the finish line. It’s good I’ll be doing this run because I’ll be able to get some descent pics for my blog and for Paul’s blog http://www.paulpreston.ca

Running Log :: 5 miles inside

Well did a 5 mile run inside today and did it with a reverse split. Did an 8:34 min mile for the first half and then the second half was spent at 8 minute mile. The leg workouts are really helping the legs get stronger and recover quicker. Felt great through the entire run. I think I’m looking at about a 7:45 min mile pace for the 10K. I’m going to try and run a 10K tomorrow and pick the pace up a bit just to see. Run the first half at about 8 min mile and maybe 7:50 min mile for the second half. Anyhow here are the stats, 5 miles in 41:16 and I’ve already showed the pace above.

Workout :: at home

Well did the workout at home before getting the kiddies to bed. Did shoulder, triceps and biceps. I have to say I sure have missed getting back into shape at this level. I guess there is some added motivation. The running coming along well is also pushing me. I truly think I will be ready for the Toronto Waterfront Half Marathon. I’m getting excited. Like I’ve written I think I’ll try and do one half a month between now and the Around the bay. I’m hoping to get over to the gym for an elliptical session.

Cross Train day :: Workout

Well did a workout tonight as it was a layoff day for running. I did total body workout except shoulders, just ran out of juice after the leg workout. Did abs, chest, biceps, triceps, back and legs. I pushed really hard for the leg workout. I am noticing a good difference in my running as a result of the leg workouts. The only complaint is the foot is taking an extra day to feel better. I’ll have to keep a close watch on that.

Running Log :: 9 miles (14.5km)

Well this is my longest run since my Disney Marathon and my injury. I had to run inside because of the rain and within about 20 min of my run I can see the sun coming out, that drives me nuts. Anyhow the legs felt great for the entire run. We’ll have to see how they feel tomorrow but I have to say that run with the chariot sure did an amazing job at working out the shins. I think I could be up to half marathon distance in the next couple weeks so might just have to enroll in a race. The Toronto Waterfront is at the end of the month, I could be ready for that one. We’ll just play it by ear. Anyhow for the stats, 9 miles in 1:16:54 for an average pace of 8:33 minute miles.
