Running Log :: and a workout

Well went to the gym for a run and a workout. Did a 3 mile run in 26:42 for a pace of 8:54 minute mile. Watching Olympics while running as I did it at the gym.  Watch synchro diving, what a sport. Also did a workout, back and abs. Anyhow not much to write about, legs improving dramatically.

Workout Legs :: Swim also

Well figured I need to start to work out the legs again. I’ve really slacked off on the workouts so last night I started with legs since it was crosstrain day. Did legs, chest and abs plus a swim. The swim as usual very difficult. I’m just not conditioned for swimming, funny I can run a marathon no problemo but give me lengths to swim and I suck. Anyhow really going to work on the swimming this time around and see how that helps in all other areas.

Running Log :: 6 miles

Well went to run at the gym again tonight. The weather just sucks this summer, so much rain. Rained all weekend again. So anyhow headed to the gym and planned to run 6 miles which I did. This is a reduced week (recovery). Anyhow did a 6 mile run (9.65KM) in 53:45 minutes for an average pace of 8:53 minute miles. The legs didn’t feel to bad, there were a couple sensitive moments but they all passed. Did a good walk after and a little ab workout. Going to start back at the working out this week and also really start to work on the legs and some good crosstraining, probably the pool.

Running Log :: outside with new shoes

Well did a 3 mile run outside tonight and got caught in the rain a bit. It was refreshing but just don’t care for the misting from the cars (I run on the road in bicycle lane).  Anyhow was a good run, the legs were a bit store still. I think a combination of the other shoes getting a little beat up, ramping up the mileage a bit agressively and the running without the extra layoff day all caught up. Anyhow these new shoes and cutting back a bit on the mileage this week all made for a pleasant run. I’m sitting down writing this blog with a pint of Keith’s Amber (YUM YUM). Anyhow back to the stats, did a 3 mile run in 25:05 minutes for an 8:22 minute mile. I’m actually quite surprised by it considiering is was on Stonechurch, the hilly part.

Runnin Log :: OH I’m sore

Ok well did another 3 miles today and reduced the pace a bit. I really have to not push to hard, I don’t need another injury. The good news is this is a completely new area so I’m not going to push it to a point where I’ve been before. The major injury seems pretty healed up. I  don’t have to start having great mileage till mid September so no point on pushing it. Anyhow did 3 miles in 26:54 for pace of about 8:53 minute miles. Good run but was really worn out.

Picked up a coffee after and dropped it on the newly waxed floors here at work. Oh was I racing to clean that up before the cleaners spot (no pun intended) that. Now I still need my afternoon coffee. Think I’ll take a walk to Starbucks for a cup.

Running Log :: Ran inside

Well ran inside today as it’s very smoggy out and didn’t think I’d have the chance to go tonight. Also I really need to make certain I don’t get injured. The legs have been feeling a bit beat up the last few days so figured I’d take it easy on them and run inside. It’s easier to run on the machine with the bounce than on the road. Probably run inside all week and even my long run this weekend (which I’m going to roll back a few miles this week).  Anyhow did a 3 mile run in 26:30 for a pace of 8:50 minute miles. Legs feel a bit heavy at the end, not going to push to hard over the next couple weeks. I’d like to run the Toronto Half but I’m still pretty far from ready and it’s seven weeks away. That is more than enough time to finish getting ready baring any further pains.

skydive :: two jumps today

Well went down to the dropzone with Paul and the girls today. Paul brought camera and I brought my video camera so there should be a bit of video to add later when I have more time. Anyhow did to jumps today from about 14,000 feet doing sitfly exit (ride the slide). Was awesome today. Held the first for about 5-6 seconds and the second exit for what seemed like an eternity. Didn’t know how to turn though, guess I’ll have to watchs my cousins Dan’s sitfly video. Anyhow was an awesome day, good weather and landed just off target for one and pretty far off (near the pond) for second.

Some pics de jour (these were taken by the kids and Paul)…

Skydive :: 3 jumps

Well today was my first day as a skydiver soely responsible for my life. No radio, not a single luxury. Anyhow did three jumps today, one out of the Cessna and two out of the Twin Otter. Cessna was 10,500 feet and the other two were about 14,500. Did one jump with Rick playing Simon Says and what a rush. Trying to do what he did. Also droped through a cloud and that was just crazy, never seemed to end and had to open up at the bottom of it. Anyhow had three good landings, one only 6′ from the target. All in all amazing day.
