DISNEY MARATHON 2009 :: WHAT DO DO?

Well I’m considering it again this year. The pain from last years Goofy’s Challenge is finaly starting to subside and I’m considering giving the marathon a go again. My cousin Dan (who I’ve been skydiving with lately) and my friend Paul both want to run it as well so it would definaly be cheep (share room and gas). I said i wouldn’t run that one again but I won’t be able to run one this summer as I’m still recovering from my injury sustained at the last one. I would be able to make it down to a drop zone also while down there and get a few jumps in. I’ll have to talk to the wifie about it and get the permissions required. I would only be going for 4 days anyhow so can find someone to watch the kiddies for a weekend to help her out. I’ll have to keep you all posted.

Running Log :: Inside again, it’s crazy out

Well ran 4.5 miles inside today. It’s just crazy hot out (29C feels like 36C with Humidex) and I was dying just driving there. The run went amazingly well. Didn’t push the pace nor the time today. I ran for 40 minutes hitting 4.47 miles for an average pace of 8:57 minute miles. I’ll try for about 6 miles this weekend keeping it just under an hour and next week well work our way up the ladder. I’m back at work now and feel awesome. Didn’t have time for lunch after that run so sucked back a Bannana-a-Whey from Booster Juice. Man I love those.

Running Log :: Inside the gym

Well decided to get a fast run in before lunch today. Went to the gym to run inside (Outside it’s 28C – 82.4F FEELS LIKE 37C 98.6F with Humidex). I ran on the machine and added hills to the run today. Ran for 30 min for 3.4 miles. That is a steady 8:49 minute mile. Burned off about 520 calories during the run which was good because I grabbed some Indian food after the run. Anyhow tomorrow we’ll do much the same run and do a good 8-9 mile run this weekend.

Also some tunes from the Crow soundtrack were on the Ipod, talk about some driving music.

Running Log :: 3 miles

This is going to be a recovery week of running. Did a 3 mile run in 26:15 for a pace of  8:45 minute miles. The legs felt pretty good and I didn’t  push to hard.  Looking forward to a good week of running but not pushing limits. Try a 5 mile tomorrow, 3 mile  the following day and an 8 mile this weekend.

Running Log :: 50 min. bit sore in the arch

Well I decided to do an indoor run tonight as it was already getting quite late when I was ready to get going. I was going to go for an hour run but I was to concerned about the left foot. I pulled of a 50 minute run for 5.6 miles. I maintained an 8:57 min mile pace for the entire run. I probably could have scaled the pace back a bit and might have been able to go the hour. It’s all about finding my rhythm at the moment. Anyhow ran to a bunch of new songs on the IPOD. I’ve had to start rebuilding my catalog as it got wiped out when I plugged it into my linux box. ABBA baby LOL.

Skydive Weekend :: Graduation Jump

Ok I know some of you are coming back looking for the vids of my weekend jumps. I’m having trouble ripping them (the sound is abscent when converted). I’m hoping to get this resolved tonight and have these up for you ASAP. The jumps went great, did solo 5, 6 Saturday and graduation jump 7 (the hop and pop) on Sunday. Had one excellent unassisted landing on Saturday (jump 5) and hit the edge of the target. Need two more like that one for solo certificate. I’ll be taking the Brian Germain canopy piloting course this weekend so I’m hoping that will help. Anyhow this is a quick thank you to Skydive Burnaby  for the great coaching, excellent instructors and awesome atmosphere. Looking forward to many more jumps.

Running Log :: 7 miles outside

Well finaly getting serious again. Did a nice run again tonight and it was outside. I ran Stonechurch from Upper Wellington stopping just shy of Mount Albion.  Was a great run. Legs felt good for entire run and this is a very hilly run. Ran 7 miles in 1:05:49 keeping a pace of about 9:24 minute miles. I didn’t want to push it being the first time outisde in over a month. I will try and do 1-2 of my weekly runs outside and the remainder inside to help preserve the left leg. Very proud of my efforts.

Running Log :: wow 3 times this week

Well this was three days in a row for running and overall the leg feels pretty good. Today went back to 45 minute run at an 8:58 min mile pace. Ran 5 miles and burnt approx 760 calories. I was talking with the guy on the treadmill next to me for about 5 min and I hate talking and running, always feel winded. Anyhow I’m hoping to get out for one outdoor run this weekend, we’ll keep it to 30 min or less. We’ll avoid the long run and just try and get a good weekly rythm going first.

Running Log :: upped the pace

Elevated the pace a bit today to see how the leg would hold up. Took the time down to 40 minutes and I was feeling good through the entire run. Keep the pace at 8:35 minute miles. This was an indoor run. So ran 4.66 miles in 40 minutes for the 8:35 min miles and felt great. Just a little over 700 calories. Get the weight down a bit more and this should just start to feel better all around.

Running Log :: 45 min run 5 miles

Well back to running today and was I ever missing it. I really need to start getting this mileage up. Anyhow I did a 45 min run indoors for 5 miles. Legs felt good, a bit heavy to start but good all around. The tendon pain is still there but doesn’t start to kick in till about the 35-40 min mark. Did 5 miles for 760 calories. Put it on a .5 hill for 5 min X 2.  I guess the tendon pain kicking in when it did is pretty good considreing the hills. Will try and repeat tomorrow depending on how the leg feels.
