Well my stair machine needs a repairman. It’s working but seems that maybe the computer is out of whack, it’s not putting the appropriate resistance for the level. So today had to get to the gym for my cardio session. Did 30 very aggressive minutes on the elliptical. Was great for clearing the mind. The leg was a little sensitive to the touch following that session. It has different movement and resistance level than stairs and I could feel it working the injured area. I kept it to 30 minutes and hopefully this will just add to my recovery and not cause more difficulty. Anyhow the cardio sessions are working well, dropped a little over10 pounds and am gearing up for the last ten to get to my proper running weight.

Elliptical :: Stair machine needs servicing
Stair machine :: hope it’s not broken
Well did another 40 on the stair machine. Quite the workout. Robin went on the machine after and it seemed to be acting up. Hope there isn’t a problem with it. I’ll try it again tomorrow and if it’s not working right we’ll have to open it up. Feeling pretty good. Going to try a run on Sunday, 2-3 miles and if I can get through it without much discomfort I’m going to go to Ottawa for the 5k. Paul is going to be running the 10k so I will be heading up with him. If you want to read more about his progress check out his blog http://www.paulpreston.ca
Stairs :: Keeps me going
Well I can’t run but can I do the stair machine. Have to keep me going somehow. Nothing like being in the basement with the IPOD building up a sweat. Did another 40 min workout today for 671 cals (approx of course). I miss running so much but just have to see if this is going to heal. My weight is coming down but it’s so difficult to eat well and not drink when you can’t do what you want to do anyhow. When you have no control over the healing process. When I used to read about runners getting injured, recovery etc. I used to think how does one get sidelined from running? Wow, I haven’t had a good run since January 12th. for the half marathon, the full marathon the following day wasn’t a good run and there haven’t been any since then. Anyhow, have to get back working out as well as I’ve been reading that working out helps speed up the recovery process.
Stair Machine :: Tack on more time
Well added more time to my stair machine workout. Did 40 min stairs for over 2200 stairs and 670Cals burned. Not sure when I’ll be able to try running again. I’ll let this go for another 3-4 weeks I think and see how I feel. Try and get my booking in for the Ultra sound and also call my sports Dr. to see if I can get bone scan and MRI. I just want to get past this but for those of you that read this blog, I’m sure you’ve all already noticed that. Anyhow short entry today, off to nieces B-day party with the kids.
Stairs :: Have to stay fit
Well as I’m still nursing this left leg all I can really do are stairs and elliptical (well swimming also). I wasn’t in the mood to head to the gym tonight so did 35 min on stair machine at grueling level 2 for 1995 stairs and 586 calories. I’m just spent. Did small ab workout after and am now relaxing as I input my statistics in the Blog. I’m going to give myself a deep tissue massage along my left shin and then ice it. This has to heal sometime. See if I can get an ultrasound in Toronto sooner than here in Hamilton. They aren’t booking till August for the type of ultrasound I require here.
Stair Machine
Well just did 35 min on stair machine. Going to have to get my cardio in different ways. I’ll try and get into the pool this week also as well as the bike. I’ll just mix it up but try and get 1-2 sessions in a day. As I’ve written previously, the running season seems non salvageable.
Running Log :: Very disappointed
Well what can I say. I’m quite depressed this morning. I tried to do my run last night (indoors) and after two miles (20 min. very slow pace) the pain above my posterior ankle in my shin was there worse than ever. I jumped on the elliptical for an additional 10 min but that was it. I’m just going to have to lay off for an extended period of time, get the ultra sound and see if I can get in for a bone scan. We’ll have to try 4-6 weeks this time. I’ll just use the elliptical and stepper. I think this summers running season is over.
